Give it time. Probably wont't be long before the GM is gone and then step in.

Ask Paige, that's all she does when she's sick from the alcohol and stays home.

Don't do it to burn bridges. I was fired from two places in my past employment history, and both times I was eventually hired back in some role by the guys who fired me. If you can offer legitimate consulting services, I don't see a downside to making the offer. If the boss you're trying to call out has a boss and if the department is being run as crappily as you relate, then copy your offer to the boss's boss.

IMHO though, I'd say you're too invested in a place where you had a great many problems even in light of your successes. That's not a job loss to lose sleep over. Put it in your rear view mirror and move on. Failing that, offer your services as an outside consultant earning 3x whatever you were making (or more). Whatever you do, best of luck to you.

Extend an olive branch.
Go help them if they want.
Get a better job out of it.

If you were running a company, would you fire your Finance Manager and replace them with the receptionist and expect even similar results? That's pretty well what they did.

That's pretty much exactly what Dede Slaughter did.

Happens all the time. Management thinks once you've got everything in order and they are paying you more than the market average they can let you go and find someone to maintain the operations for much less.

It's how I was promoted a few years back but made only 60% of what my boss did before he was let go. My dad was given the choice of taking a paycut or quitting at his old company.

Email him and CC the higher-ups, gloating and passive-agressively blaming the GM.

I am a dick and would probably be prank calling his house, so TIFWIW

You should if you work in an environment like the OP said. Most specifically this reason "He was a sales person, I'm an engineer." The worker looks to improve, sales looks to have a better bottom line. You'll run into it a lot in most work places that have that sort of dynamic. In the artistic community it could be administration vs artists.

No you shouldn't email him. But if they are floundering that bad and you can make them profitable again why not find someone with some money and buy the business for .50 cents on the dollar. Return them to a profit and you win. That would be much more rewarding than a little revenge.

They have a terrible business model and stand no chance of being profitable. Their partnership contracts were negotiated terrible. One in particular has a $45 million buyout for an account that averages a net loss of $1.5 million per year.

It's a sinking ship and I'm glad I got out when I did.
As I said, it's a passive gloat but not presented in such a manner. I'd leave it open for him to potentially bite on it and offer me some consulting work, because they actually need it. I highly suspect he will decline though, bit it's worth a shot.

As for emailing his bosses, I don't even know who they are. He's the highest ranking person in the US. He answers to the board of directors for a much larger company in Australia that owns this one.
They tried selling us, but couldn't find a buyer. Companies would look, but when they got into the details of th contracts they all backed out. Company has been in business since 2006 and never turned a single penny of profit.

One of the people I'm close to that's still there is in the finance department. He said they are having discussions of trying to get out of the only profitable contract the company holds. He believes they will shut the doors in a year and a half max.

Believe what you wish, I don't care. You have little to no info to bring you to that conclusion.

Wait...
you worked for the President of the United States?
He doesn't answer to the board of directors...he answers to the Commandant of the Marine Corps!
