You can see stuff from up high but what about all the gear? Would I need a license?

Do you want/need one?

Can you afford one?

If it occupied all your free time, please buy one.

I’m surprised more people here haven’t talked about owning drones. I’m sure there are people here who are in the hobby. What was you coolest picture or video?

Bought one. Got bored with it after a few flights. Sold it.

Don't scratch the itch unless you can justify it or just get a cheap one.

I bought a Mavic Pro when they first came out and have zero regrets. It is crazy the technology that is used in that thing.

Do you look at the crops with it? My farmer flies over all the fields and sends to me as an update.

drones are a lot of fun....for about a week. after that, it is just another unused toy that sits around the house.

no. Got one for Christmas a few yrs ago and decided to bring it outside to experiment with. 10 minutes later I saw it go over a tree line and it was never to be seen again. $400 down the drain

Our HOA purchased one in March. The reconnaissance intel has been proven to work. We have 4 arrests based on drone footage that resulted in charges by the ADA.

Be careful and make Sure the safety groups attorney is involved with the Ps and qs of using drones for investigations. We have a good man on suspension pending internal affairs review. In short its a tool but has to be used within the realm of law. Not always black and white.

It’s written in our bylaws that all airspace belongs to the hoa. It’s not uncommon for us to radio passenger jets flying over to tell them the neighborhood is a no fly zone

Well, you just outed your HOA. I’ve trained with a couple of guys at LSP that went on to DFS from your hood.

Bylaws are critical but not as Critical as hand in glove partnership and backing from the sherrifs dept.drones are a tool but not a substitute for relationships
