Makes no sense that foreigners can buy property in other countries. That's been the whole point of having a country up to this point in time. It's land you own and defend from others that want to take it. Why invade a country if you can just buy it? The US of all places should only allow nationals to own US soil.

I dont like corporations buying properties, but i don't know how you could stop it. A lot of these people that dont own homes physically cant or don't know how to maintain them. So they will always rent. And if ya let "some" companies do it, then all companies will do it.

I have a real problem with corporations buying up new homes and immediately turning them into rental property (hurts my brain because I'm usually all in on capitalism).

I'd like to hear a good debate both ways. We don't live in a truly free market anymore so some of that goes out the window.

You're not selling it to Juan, youre selling it to Chen who still lives in Beijing and takes the investment out of the country.

Of course not, just you have no principles and worship the buck, right after the Horse.

Should foreign nationals be able to donate to political campaigns?

I think the best solution is to prohibit the purchase of land (for foreigners) and restrict the total number of dwellings (for corporations).

That way foreigners can still buy living space if they need to - eg, a condo or apartment - but Chicom kleptocrats can't inflate the price of residential housing by using the bountiful US RE market as a vault for their pilfered gains.

As for corporations, I don't think the average American will benefit from corporatized slumlording. If you think it's tough dealing with local landlords and sellers, just wait until companies like Black Rock hold the keys. Let them invest and develop on a reasonable scale but no growth to Amazon levels.

Anywhere that Americans can't buy property should be the same way here.

Its just moving assets from here to there. It contains no benefit for Americans.

The vast majority of development in America depends on rental income. Multifamily, retail, office, hotels, etc.

I agree that allowing single family homes to be purchased at scale and rented out en masse is a big problem.
