I like how it looks, but I'm fearful that I'll be accused of culture appropriation if I wear one in public.

They are lightweight and block the sun very well. Regarding your question, here in California, I’ve seen several Mexican laborers wearing them.

We bought ~12 of them and wore them to HS bball games our Sr year - we jokingly called one of our white friends “the asian” and he was on the team.
We also had shirts printed in Chinese , the band bought the gong to games and hit when he scored, band also played an Asian sounding song when he made free throws and the cheerleaders bowed....ahhh the times before smartphones
