Watching again, looks like a second gun in the car on the right that came in front of the driver’s head near the end of the shooting. So either a passenger reached across the driver to take a shot, or the driver was shooting, and missing, with both hands.

I think the motivation was probably that the driver of the car on the left got an academic scholarship to college that the driver of the car on the right was really hoping to get.

Why did the guy in the car on the left shoot for no reason when they other car was clearly out of sight.
Now he can get in trouble for being reckless and putting innocent people in danger. It wasn't self defense at that point.
