Victim might be Burt Templet.

There's a lady with that last name that posted on Nextdoor a few weeks ago about her abusive husband.

ETA - yep same address. Here's the post

PROTECTIVE ORDER. 17652 Gray Moss Avenue Good afternoon neighbors. It has been a true pleasure getting to know everyone I have come in contact with in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, I am unable to live in the neighborhood anymore. Due to years of physical abuse. Recently, it came to an end with me being punched in the face twice in one month and needing dental restoration to fix my teeth that were broken. I have a protective order that the EBR Sheriff's office has tried to serve numerous times. But the abuser will not answer the door or return messages left on his cell phone from them. The Male figure that lives at 17652 Gray Moss Avenue says he is afraid of no one... and beats his wife.... but will not answer the door for a piece of paper. Neighbors beware, he is a very unstable NARCISSIST !!!!!! Unfortunately, my belongings remain in the house.....

While north of Coursey/George O'neal can be kind of rough, you have to go up a little ways to get to that part.

Wow. That’s certainly a common reason a son kills his father.

Assuming it's true maybe the guy was a head case and the son shot him in self defense.

I felt awful reading the article, where it said his dad was drunk & wouldn’t stop coming at him. My dad wasn’t abusive, but he was an alcoholic. I understand the desperation a kid feels when he/she wants a drunk parent to stop.

I live close enough where that neighborhood shows on my Nextdoor feed and remembered that post when lsupimp posted the guy's name.

Templet said that around 3 a.m. his father, who appeared intoxicated, woke him up and the two began to argue. The teen accused his father as being the aggressor. At some point during the argument, Templet said he locked himself in his father's room where the guns were kept. Templet said he unlocked the door and immediately shot his father once with a revolver. As Templet's father begged him to stop, the teen fired two additional shots. After the incident, Templet called 911. While barricaded in the bedroom, Templet said he didn't call law enforcement because he felt they would take too long to respond. He told detectives he was "ready to end it." Templet also said his father didn't threaten him and he was unarmed. Templet was arrested and charged with attempted manslaughter.

This doesn't sound great for the son.

Certainly does not look like self-defense but, assuming he was violent with the son like he apparently was with the ex-wife/step-mom, there is probably a battered wife/child syndrome defense which could be asserted

Yeah if his mom/stepmom takes the stand in his defense and can show a pattern of abuse, the kid may catch a break.

George O’Neal isn’t as bad as O’Neal but that area is going downhill fast. It’s old and looks it. That area along Antioch is a shithole too.

I don't live too far away and all of that area around Albertsons is fine. That's eastern St George baw

TIGERSSEC, where exactly are you talking about? I live in on Gray Moss, it is far from going downhill, as you say. And as for Antioch being a shithole. Thats is not the case either. You live in Arizona?

God Bless that family. What a tragedy. I hope the truth comes out and that the kid is exonerated. It sounds like the Dad was a nightmare and was packing. It’s my best bet that the son thought his life depended on getting to his Dad’s gun first. Prayers sent.

This is a good example of someone who should have said nothing and immediately hired a lawyer.

Yeah it sounds like the guy was a real POS. The son would have been better off not saying anything and using some of the evidence from the wife's history of abuse.

It's definitely the dude I posted about above. She posted a copy of the restraining order on Nextdoor.

I hope they do. Just because your dads a drunk doesn’t mean you can shoot him. I hope they fry the 17 yr old.
