The link doesn't say he was shot. Details. This sucks. Prayers for their family in the event that they were.

From what I heard , a traffic stop was made due to a stolen tag. A pursuit followed , when the car stopped the driver had a gun to the passengers head saying he would kill them. Driver was shot and died ..... Second version I heard was when the driver finally stopped after the pursuit he shot himself in the head ..... Either way a shot was fired , bad guy died , everyone else was fine and unarmed

LSP. The heroes we all need. Saw a mandeville PD on the side of the road unable to change his own tire tonight.....

Nothing against LSP, but this involved St. Tammany. LSP was just reporting the incident.

They're all heros simply for putting on the badge every morning/evening!

Remember the kid who ran a few police roadblocks late one night in Covington and so the police shot him to death? The kid was the only one with a car like it so they could have met him at his house at any time. Basically executed him because the police couldn't catch him.

It happened in the early 1970's.

I work with police all the time. I've met some great, kind, tough, hard working cops and I've met others i wouldn't trust as much. I don't think there are heroes. There are just men and women. Judge them for their actions good and bad. Not what you think they represent. JMHO.

He was a classmate of mine. There were bad decisions made that night by everyone involved.

Agreed. It was a tragedy for all involved.

I remember another officer in Madisonville (maybe their only one at the time?), Spike, who would ticket you for speeding over 25mph if the "Speed Limit 25" sign by Starvation Landing was visible whether you drove past it yet or not. He said that was the law and no one questioned him.

Simpler times.
