I don’t get this idea of the government pushing for gun control. If they wanted to take everyone’s guns away they would, regardless of how many people got killed. They don’t care about American lives. Look how easy it was for them to take away every other freedom you can imagine during covid. If they want to take the guns they will.

Well, now that he's dead they can take this shooters gun.

Might be a good idea to redistribute that wealth though and give it to another person in case they get shot at by another crazy.

I used to drive trucks for for FedEx while I was in law school.

I vividly remember a “no gun zone” sign on the entrance gate.

I guess the perp couldn’t read. We need better English and literature classes in our schools.

Just talking about taking/not taking guns is lining a lot of pockets in Washington. Why would they actually do it?

Exactly. And the room temperature IQ folks will go out and buy more now because they’re easily manipulated.

I really think they need to up the standards to become an officer and create a longer training period. Raise the base salary according to area and try to draw better prospects.

This would help, problem is the loudest people on this topic are calling to pay police less money or even abolish the police altogether.
How much longer training period we talking? I might sign up for 2-3 year training program where I can sit on my arse in a cushy AC/Heat classroom for a few thousand a month. Of course I'd quit before actually graduating and putting my life on the line. But 2-3 years easy money in training sounds pretty good.

Let me know when the pay gets upped like you suggest.

I used to argue with my wife when she would say all this stuff is staged....I'm really starting to have second thoughts now. Its all to convenient every time an administration starts the gun control talks we have a mass shooting in at least one school, one workplace, and in a public entertainment event, a

so you think the government has plants all over the country, including high schoolers, willing to carry out suicide missions at any time in the name of gun control

Are we suddenly having more mass shootings, or is the news suddenly reporting more and more to help the current administration’s agenda for gun control?

They are reporting it hoping it's a Trump supporter. It goes away quickly when it's not a white dude.

Louisiana has had at least 9 mass shootings this year. But again, no one gives a shite when a black teen shoots a bunch of people.

It's pretty obvious they fear the outcome. Democrats have repeatedly had opportunities to push for even modest gun control measures and orchestrate those efforts to a stalemate or failure. Because for the most part they want to campaign on it and get credit for it without actually dealing with the political consequence of real legislation.

They know that banning high capacity mags (esp without some grandfather clause) is going to put lives in danger. Same for any other gun control measure that is still far below a weapon ban.

Perhaps more importantly - they fear the loss of credibility and accompanying loss of authority. It's the same as a CDC person going "I'm worried that if we don't tie the vaccine and freedom together, people will take back their freedom and we'll lose our leverage." What happens when they ban 15 round magazines and police departments and states refuse to comply? Suddenly their bluff is called, and they have to be willing to go to lengths a lot of them don't have the stomach for, or they end up looking inept.

Democrats use gun control the same way Republicans use abortion.

Neither really want to touch it, but both use it pander to their bases.

If they tried they'd lose the AA vote. They can't afford to lose the AA vote.
