That's not my personal interpretation, but as with everything else in the Bible, people have a thousand opinions. A Mennonite would agree with that take on the verse.

In my opinion, Christ and the Apostles at least meant that Christians are not to initiate violence and should not be more violent than is absolutely necessary. They should take no pleasure in even the lawful application of force.

(Basically, the exact opposite of the bloodthirsty and sadistic comments you often see here whenever the topic of the death penalty comes up.)

The killer has several of the armed church goers/ security team in close proximity...which makes me think they had their suspicions early on. The killers mannerisms and handling of his gun makes me believe it was random and mental illness will be a factor in this.

Wow that went down lightning quick. I’m very impressed with the reaction shot from the good guy. The bad guy went down line a sack of bricks. Very well done by the church security!

ETA: If the powers that be in this country would legalize voluntary euthanasia for the physically healthy these type of attacks would taper off dramatically. Too bad there’s not a clinic that guy could go to and be liquidated peacefully and safely.

Let me get this straight... you think if suicide were made legal, these people would just off themselves instead of bringing others with them?

Sorry but I don’t buy that. Nothing is stoping these people from killing themselves without taking others with them. They don’t need a “special euthanasia clinic” to go die in.

Yes not all of them but a good bit of them would opt to be euthanized at a clinic rather than having to put themselves into a situation where they have to provoke the cops or security to kill them.

I imagine there are many CCWs at many services.

Good guy made a hell of a shot. The first guy who got shot looks like he would have been better off going for bad guys gun than his own.

These are always good videos to watch for anyone who carries. The whole thing went down in about 5 seconds, and there were about a half dozen guns drawn in that timeframe with several dozen people in the pews. That situation was ripe for friendly fire. Theres a whole lot going on very fast and if you dont have good visual on what's going on, dont draw.

The guy that got him put on a clinic. That was quick and accurate.

That’s an odd sentiment. Are you suggesting he didn’t want to shoot himself so he went somewhere full of unarmed citizens to hopefully get shot to death?

Suicide is always an option. And I mean suicide is an alternative to taking others out before you take yourself out.

Look I am all for guns, but before we say that we need more people carrying guns.. Can we at least agree that its not that simple?

Several years ago there was a dinner/cafe I pass close to on a daily basis. They decided they were going to promote carrying guns and gave people a discount on their food at lunch, if they were carrying. The 2nd day of this promotion, someone's gun went off. It didn't hit anyone, but it accidentally went off (gun owner didn't have the safety on, moved a certain way that caused it to go off)..

This is a tragic situation and its a good thing there was someone there to protect more people from getting shot, but why does this always become politicized?

No one is going to take away people's guns and there isn't a need to arm EVERYONE.

This is a response more to the people who run that site than anyone..

But saying arming more people is the answer is like saying to prevent less wrecks on the interstate is to get more vehicles on them. Those who want to own guns will, those who don't will not.

I take it the 2 dead are the first guy and the gunman? The first guy dropped immediately. Hell of a shot to kill the gunman

Yea I think so. First guy looked dead on the way down. Point blank and probably spine or head shot. Poor guy didnt have a chance. I wish he had dove for the bad guys gun instead of reaching for his own.

Lesson to take away is that if the other guy has the drop on you, you're not going to draw and shoot before you get shot.

I’m not sure if your comment was aimed at me or you just responded to one of my comments. But I’ll take the bait.

I’m not saying everyone should be armed. I’m saying every qualified, law abiding citizen that wants to carry a gun should. With that, they should take pride in their right to carry and practice routinely and make their gun of choice a craft. That responsibility is not one to take lightly. It’s simple to me, the more trained good guys will always outnumber the bad.

Training is the key. In the video of this mornings shooting, numerous people had guns. You can tell those who appear to know what they are doing and others that appeared to have bought a gun and CCP.

NOTHING in MY comments regarding this shooting are political.

I’m really at a loss for this comparison as it couldn’t be more apples to marbles. Maybe adding more traffic enforcement would prevent more wrecks on the interstate kind of like allowing trained, armed citizens stop mass shootings and deter crime.

Know your target and what's behind it.

Maybe they didn't have a clean shot without hitting someone on the other side of the shooter.
