It is. That's what makes it nice. Its a bustling little town at 5000 ft altitude surrounded by small mountains. I love it down there. Sul Ross University is in Alpine as is one of the great bars in Texas, Harry's Tinaha.

I live in Alpine. It is a sad day for the community. Yes, we are a small West Texas town in the middle of no where. Just how I like it. The response to the call was fast and large. In addition to the PD and SO, we have a large Federal law enforcement presence due to being so close to the border. The federal guys, Border Patrol, HSI, Marshals all respond to back up the locals if needed. And Zappas you are correct, Harrys is a great little bar.
