This is not surprising. It is almost guaranteed that there will be copycats after a high-profile incident like the TV crew shooting yesterday. Unfortunately, it seems to be multiple incidents going back to the Lafayette shootings, at least.
People who are wired to behave this way crave the attention that these murderers get after the fact. They feel it's their chance to be remembered, so they do things like this.

Just guessing but I don't think that was the case here

There is so much fail in this post, that I don't know where to start

Friends daughter was in the building. She said no one was hurt that she was aware of.

Good. Wouldn't have thought anything of it if it wasn't retweeted by James Spann (big meteorologist/twitter news guy in Alabama). He was probably just trying to get any and all information out that he could.

And who cares if MSU jumped on it being an active shooter if no shots fired. Better safe then sorry on that part.
True dat!

Twitter, texting, and the barrage of 24/7 365 media just makes this seem like the case
Violence is lower than it's been since the 1950s. It was much, much worse. In the 1970s on through the early 1990s the murder rate was roughly TWICE what it is now.
You just didn't know it because you had to catch it on the 6:00 news or read about it the next day in the paper. Now it's blasted to you live everywhere you turn, giving the impression that things are worse now when in fact exact opposite is true.

Spann's an alum - I dont understand why he retweeted an unofficial source. Baffling.

EVERYONE knows this, so we can stop with these comments.

Jesus man I have a little cousin that just started there this year. And of course he's in engineering so he's probably in Engineering Row often. Hope everyone stays safe there. This is getting out of hand.
