Not much honestly, assuming he wasn't pointing it at anyone or threatening to use it. It's illegal to possess a firearm on a college campus, so he will be charged with that, but other than that, it depends on what he did.

I blame social media.
Before social media these idiots couldn't be all over the Internet letting everyone see and hear them. They couldn't see what other idiots were doing up to the minute.
Also cops could dish out punishment on the spot without blowback, suspensions, or litigation due to their actions.
A lot of stuff didn't happen because people were actually afraid of the consciquences if caught.

Talked to my father in law and he was at the hunter henry center, other side of campus and not much is being said yet. Campus and some of the town is on lock down. The church I go to there is on lock down and the daycare is locked up also. Got an alert email, that was sent out. No telling what is true and not true yet.
And who cares if MSU jumped on it being an active shooter if no shots fired. Better safe then sorry on that part.
