Never had em. Anyone here had em and can explain why it takes 3 weeks or more to heal?

It's basically like a stress fracture..I've had em, takes a while for em to go away

Shin splints has absolutely nothing to do with or is like a stress fracture. It typically occurs with eccentric stress on the anterior tibialis muscle most likely due to over pronation of the foot when running. It can take a while to trim over but also caused by poor running mechanics so it often gets irritated when doing that same activity.

Shin splints and plantar fascists are both a royal pain in the arse. You basically have to give your body time to repair itself anx it's a pretty slow process. Really easy to re-injure if you don't heal completely too.

It depends on how bad you let them get. If you try to run through them, and they get really bad, it might take three months. But if you catch them early, and rest them, you’ll be good to go in two or three weeks. I’d wait three weeks just to be safe, unless you have a competitive event coming up.

Yes, I had them when I ran track in high school. Never could get over them, but we never had any sophisticated stretching that we have nowadays and I suspect that was the key to Recovery .

I had them once and it took around 2 months for them to fully go away.

I got them while at LSU. THEY HURT like the devil. It's like the muscle sheath pulls away from shin bone. It's hard to play sports because so painful. Mine quit hurting so badly when I quit playing. My husband got them while refereeing basketball. He still remembers the feeling.

I have had them…burned like crazy…takes time to heal…woke up one day and the pain was gone

Have you had a tiny crack in your bone or the inflammation in tendons and muscles around the bone? There is a big difference between the 2. Stress fracture requires more time to heal than shin splints.

My daughter got them a few years ago severely. College softball player. Her idiot coach has no idea what they are. She graduated two years ago. I asked her today how they are. She said they still bother her depending on what exercise she does. They take a while to heal.

Got some kind of weight on foot and flex the foot. Hold for a few seconds each rep.
In college, I figured out how to use the lying leg curl machine for them. Placed my toes under the roller pad and lifted. Helped tremendously.
Hammer strength makes a small machine for them called the tibia dorsi flexion

They don’t go away in 3 weeks, she’s gonna play through some pain if she’s playing in the big dance

Sit out pointless SEC T and get rested for Big Dance.
