OK why are you telling me that my only contribution to this thread conversation was that the CEO choosing to stay based in New Orleans was not an economic boon 2 the city of New Orleans since the other employees the other operations for Shell America is staying in Houston

The CEO is living in NOLA basically a handful of support staff in New Orleans to make her coffee and drive to the airport is a short commute away by plane

where SHE lives doesn't really say anything about the effect in New Orleans or Houston economically

I worked for Shell Oil , both in Houston, TX and New Orleans ...

the difference is astronomical
Even though working for Shell is super sweet
Working for Shell in New Orleans is the best

My back fence neighbor was a petroleum engineer for Shell for 33 years (recently retired) and every time they told him he would have to move he would tell them he would quit and consult for competitors, he was in NO 20 straight years.

He has a work people party every year at Thanksgiving or Christmas and its fascinating the people you meet. Every nationality you can think of and one thing in common, super bright, accomplished people.

I met an Italian couple (both mechanical engineers) that in their spare time helped build one of the first 3d printers that actually worked. They sold their patent, made millions and last I heard still work for Shell in the Netherlands. They design drilling platforms for the North Sea.

Houston is seen as a vibeless, corporate concrete jungle by many non U.S. Shell staff.

Also by most regular people.

Its not like living in Vegas where there is all kind of shite going on, but you can't be poor if you want to experience things on a regular basis. New Orleans is unique and for all the bad things about it, there is the same level of good things.

I know its popular to hate on New Orleans on the board, but it really is what you make of it.

The OT will find a way to make this negative news for the city.

I’ve never seen a group of people actively root against their home state in every facet possible.

It’s like yall don’t want Louisiana to succeed because you just don’t think it will succeed. It’s ok to be optimistic about your home state.

I’ve always said “the best thing about Louisiana is the people and the worst thing about Louisiana is the people”

I’m guessing that since she and her husband are both from New Orleans that they both have considerable number of family members living in the area. It’s not surprising for people to stay where their family is if they have the opportunity.

Where the President of Shell lives means absolute zero. It's where Shell corporate lives that matters. Too bad the NOLA scum politicians chased Shell corporate away decades ago.

All of this is redundant. It’s all North Louisiana.
