I wonder if they could negotiate to just buy BPX and not BP as a whole.
Bps most recent strategy change emphasized that their future was the assets in the US. Goa, BPx, and Castrol are all huge businesses. Elliot capital wants out of all the green bullshite asap. I wouldn’t be surprised if BP gets sold off part and parcel.

Neither one of them have almost any IT presence on shore, it'll be fun to watch them try and integrate systems at some point.
It’ll be like this, but with Indians:

Working with both companies closely in my career, Shell isn't so great itself. Actually, probably more difficult to work with. Know at least a few current and former employees of both companies and hear more negative from the Shell side.

Can that pass anti-trust rulings?
Think of oil in 4 spheres
Russia aka Russian government
Europe (via Africa and Middle East) aka BP / Elf / Total
USA aka Standard Oil aka 7 Sisters
South China Sea aka Royal Dutch Shell

That seems like damn near a monopoly at that point.
BP is non USA (NYSE via ADR's)
RDS is non USA (Dutch + ??)
No US anti trust issue especially as Standard Oil has been merging the children since 1980.

Like every major their corporate culture is woke trash. Good place to get your foot in the door if you’re some queer immigrant though.

BP is basically dead money for another decade as the result of being subject to the UK windfall tax.

US Government really doesn't care about upstream as long as one company doesnt own too many refineries - so this should be fine - at least in the US.
How much say does the US government have over a purely British transaction?

BP is probably financially hurting from paying out those bogus oil spill claims. That was a total scam.

BP was the AT&T (pre breakup) of the UK
Widows, orphans, pensioners (and the Royal Family) outstanding divided company that paid out small checks for folks to help with living expenses. That mess in the Gulf ended that and modern MBA's diverted that $$$$ from dividend checks for many, to "bonuses" and "options" for a handful at the top. Happened in the US and we have exported the short term profits model to Europe instead of long term, steady growing public corporations.

How about the other 119,995 employees
between them?
Nice.

I will give Shell credit for realizing the green energy was bullshite much quicker than BP.
Shell did stick with their crap of woke culture and promoted lots of unqualified dumbasses and continue to do so:

... forget about upstream business, Permian, green energy s#it, offshore, platforms, wells, refinery crap ...
... this whole "rumor sale" of BP to Shell Oil is to hide s#it from you, John Q. Public.
this is in the league beside the Jeffery Epstein stuff
Some really shady stuff ...
It would behoove you to re-watch the movie ...
The Pelican Brief ... talk about living in a script
There you go ...
one dead US Supreme Court Justice and everything ( could have been easily 2)
... not to mention the ending, by the way ...
A president drops out of running for re-election
Guess those globalists didn't see that one coming
This sale is strictly to hide s#it from you

I'll provide a little more clarity. I work in both of their offices more days than I do not. In their office 90% more than my own company's office. I've got a decent basis to form my opinion.
