Nahh that's some socialist bs there bruh.
Exactly what the AP needs, but of course that won't fly with the massive "this is murca and we do want we want" crowd there.

An exit at Cornerview could help take pressure off of Highway 30 and seperate 18-wheeler traffic from outlet mall traffic
What?

The sad thing is, these types don't realize that THEY are the ones that are getting screwed. The Parish keeps adding more and more rules regarding developing property which makes building a house on one's own land more and more expensive or outright unfeasible (see increasing Road Frontage requirements). However, when it comes to a large developer who wants to jam 300 homes into 30 acres with only one entrance and exit onto a 2 lane state road, the parish bends over backwards for them, gives them all kinds of variances and wavers on drainage requirements, road frontage, sewage treatment requirements, space between units, ect. This distorts the housing market because people looking to develop their own property are forced to meet much more stringent standards than large developers, resulting in the costs to build being significantly more than the cost to buy. Basically, only developers can develop, average Joe gets the shaft.
Developers get to skirt the rules that the rest of us are forced to follow.

Last time I was on LA30, it was still two lanes in that area and even towards LSU. Absurd. Same with LA73.
Honestly, I can't believe Airline Highway in Baton Rouge is still a dilapidated four lane road with a narrow median and an at-grade rail road crossing at Choctaw.
The highway infrastructure needs of the capital area have been largely ignored by the state for decades now. Time for things to change.

You get the trucks headed to and from the plants to exit at Cornerview so they don't have to go through the retarded roundabouts that DOTD thinks will be a good idea to place at LA 30 and I-10.
You also upgrade cornerview and 73 to better accommodate the added traffic. Trucks no longer go past the mall and instead drive through much less populated and trafficked areas.
The other option is to get the second off ramp at the mall. One ramp can be used just for the mall and the other for highway 30, or one can be used just for plant traffic and the rest for shoppers.

There are a couple subdivisions going up near my neighborhood. That's a good 200-300 more cars to the morning and evening commutes. frick that shite.
The AP really needs to stop growing.
It's 20 full time jobs and 1000 construction jobs that will be taken by workers who already live in the area. It's not the Oklahoma land rush.

Only 20 jobs created? That's a small unit.
No.....it'll be the largest AO unit in the US.

Screw putting more traffic through those small neighborhood roads.
Why not just build the St Landry - Edenborne project with the truckway? It has been on the books forever and the powers that be have been sitting on their hands.

Maybe so, but still a small unit. How many operators? 12? One board guy and two outside guys?
Will need run plant engineer, production leader, EH&S staff, etc.

Good question. I believe they are waiting on approval from the Army Corps of Engineers. That would be a big help as well. I'm just wary about the Edinborne development due to the fact that Spinosa is involved and he doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to clean, on time, as promised developments.

I'm not talking about the development, I'm talking about just the road. It should have happened a decade ago.

No, shell geismar as a whole will be largest site to produce AO in the world.

I really really hate the fact that my vote as a very clued in observer of politics and who the right policy minded candidates are counts the same as a vote from a casual observer of politics and bases his/her vote on soundbites and feelings. Makes me sick. The framers of the constitution were onto something when they allowed only male property owners to vote.
Many times I feel the same way.

We need more interstate overpasses and off ramps. Perkins/Bluff Road interchange would take a ton of pressure off of Highland/Perkins and LA 73.
This one would not be #1 in every list. Its amazing that it's not being built this very second. Year and years overdue.

Not 100% true.
