If all you've seen are snippets of his crowd work on social media you should watch his actual special (I think on Netflix). It may change your mind.

Once you get to arenas, you have to rehash at least half of your old material out of necessity.

The show was hilarious. Even the opening acts killed it. Shane’s set was 90% new material and it was hysterical!

Someone as big as Shane is usually having openers that are big enough to headline clubs on their own.

Saw him in Kansas City and the whole lineup was great. Nate Marshall and Tommy Pope opened. Then we got an amazing surprise with Dave Attell. Shane was hilarious and was mostly new material, I think.
