BR Business Report and The Advocate are one of the main reasons we are where we are today.

Comparatively, not being a dumpster fire immediately puts it ahead of EBRPSS.

Anyone want to calculate NBR’s contributions to the general fund?

So how does Tasha afford her Tahoe payments now? How will the COA balance their books and operate now?

How long did it take central and Zachary to be 2 of the best school districts in the state?

There is no St. George ISD yet, the whole parish including NBR gets to vote on that.

Too many stupid people think the St. George ISD opens in fall 2020.

This is the real reason Lipsey and Broome employed sellouts like Skip Bertman to scare people into voting no.

They are about to lose 20% of their slush fund. Midnight basketball and Ruth's Chris lunch meetings don't fund themselves.

That said, the 2020 budget has already been prepared without the cuts St. George will necessitate, and Chief Administrative Officer Darryl Gissel says it’s too late to redo the numbers for the upcoming fiscal year. The finance department recently completed its draft of the budget, which by law, must be presented to the Metro Council on Nov. 5 and approved by the council in December.

“We’re going to present our budget to the Metro Council as it is,” Gissel says. “If it has to be modified later, that will be done later.”

Though the Broome administration asked all department heads in May to present a budget for 2020 that factored in the loss of St. George revenue, Gissel says those figures were used only to estimate the potential effect a St. George incorporation would have and were not used to actually create the 2020 draft budget.

Why am I not shocked they weren't actually prepared for the loss of money even though they are supposed to by law

Zachary is the best public school district in the state every year, and usually by a pretty wide margin. How were their schools before the ISD?

Laws are supposed to be followed, they are supposed to be suggestions, apparently.

They were all A schools before the ISD, so was central. ST. GEORGE IS ALL A, B, C SCHOOLS NOW. An ISD is at least 3-5 years away if it wins the whole parish which is not a given.

It may take 5 years, 10 years, 20 years... but eventually an ISD will be established, and it will make this all worthwhile.

As far as school system grading goes, the system that is in place now is different than it used to be. While Zachary and Central schools were always solid, they weren’t at the elite tier that they’re at now. When you don’t have kids from other areas being bussed in, and only have kids who live in your specific zone, scores go up.

I know Zachary and Central school districts are bigger than city limits already (I think from the start), but what is process if an area develops outside of these districts that is a better fit & easier for Zachary or Central to handle. I can’t remember if their extended boundaries were drawn before statewide amendment vote or after their respective votes established the schools systems first which then after took on additional area with agreements with EBRSS.

Assuming EBRSS is ok with it do they need to go through this whole constitutional amendment process just to modify boundaries once a municipal district is established inside a parish, or does the law & constitution allow for easier process to modify boundaries?
