No I think these items were old junk that were buried and he found, not surplus.
But I assume they were items that were installed by SWB at some point, so it would make them SWB property? I don't know.

Clifton Moore, the commissioner who dissented in his opinion on Theodore's case, also sided with Theodore. Moore said he was dissenting because there shouldn't even be a suspension, writing, "From Mr. Theodore's perspective, the S&WB did not value the scrap metal as it had no process for its collection or disposal.
That is outrageous.

I don't know. Sounds like they had a process but no supervisors at the SWB bothered to follow it.
I hate this kind of shady shite, but I think this was a bit excessive due to the ambiguity of it.

Don't sell items for personal profit that don't belong to you. We need a policy for this?
The ambiguity argument maybe holds that he deserved a suspension and not firing. But for one of the commissioners to say he didn't even deserve a suspension?

The wharehouse manager said they refused to take scrap metal people tried to turn in.. that would make it trash in their eyes basically.

Seems like every infraction these days has to result in someone losing their job or the bloodlust isn’t satisfied.

Sounds like he made an effort to get the administration to cash it in, but they didn't bother with it. They're partially responsible for not doing their job as well.

I think he has an argument due to the ambiguity, but he should be reprimanded in some way. Like I said, write him up and make him give back the money. SWB has far worse problems than this.

I don't know. I'm kinda on the fence on this one. I think both parties were at some fault here.
I think firing was a bit excessive. I say write him up and make him give back the scrap money.
Whats to be wishy washy on? Article says he tried to return it. They said we dont want that used shite we got a blank check paid by the taxpayers for new shite. Go away and throw that shite in the garbage. Sounds pretty obvious to me.

I actually agree with the decision. It just shows how inefficient government bureaucracy is when they could have easily been selling this scrap for money. A private entity would have sold the shite out of that brass just like Donald Theodore was doing.
