That hook on the back end of the Ft. Smith cell isn't looking too good

There's such a thing as being too close to the radar, and this storm is at that point. The other radars aren't much use right now, either.

We're now down to 74 and complete cloud cover, that can't be good for the outlook...

This is a good thing

sun poked out here for a little while about an hour ago and warmed the temps up to 83

This is a bad thing

Cloud cover and cooler temps means the cap is holding and will limit ability of a cell to get going

Vince Waelti is headed to that storm now. On I40 outside Ozark.

Cap is there but it's not especially strong.

Reflect makes it seem like the cell is falling in on itself, I am assuming its because of being too close to radar.

Local radio talking about APPLE SIZED hail tonight, and 70mph gusts. Either one of those by themselves is a huge danger, put them together and you have some crazy shite taking out windows, gutters, limbs, all sorts of damage

I hope that doesn't come to fruition, I chose to drive my personal vehicle up here from FL like an idiot

It's struggling at this stage. Environment has limitations still for long running cells but that will improve somewhat as they move deeper into Arkansas.

Hell, we may have tennis ball hail right now.

Okay pardon my extremely dumb question here but can a updraft eject itself?

It seems as if the Ft Smith cell has given birth to a new one

I'm not buying too much into what that storm is doing until it gets some air between it and that radar.

Now that's a cap down in Dallas.

Don't want that one breaking though because that'll be throwing some gorilla hail with that thermal profile.

Any storm you wind up under this evening can put out big hail. Best chances are in the Northern two thirds of the state.

This is what I was asking about.

I remember Reed always talking about multi-vortex columns and was just wondering if this was a case of a vort just going its own way or not?

So hard to tell with it on top of the radar.

Reed Timmer is on the storm. And of course the hook is right by the radar.
