….what, exactly, are we doing differently today?

Lots of rain dances in your neighborhood or something?

We just know weather was just as bad then as it is now. Didn't call things Boom cyclones and heat domes.

I’m excited.

A couple more days off from work. Gonna get the grill going, drink some beer, and watch some shows. It’s gonna be wonderful

No, we didn’t.

And I say this as someone who at the age of 10 (30 years ago) had to shelter in the back of a department store during a tornado because there wasn’t real advance warning that the storm could be that bad. I guarantee if we had the info we have now, we would’ve been at home.

I’ll take the getting the information from the NWS/NOAA and making the informed decision myself of how to handle it.

You missed the point. Some think the weather is worse now.

I know we tend to get more frequent severe storms than we did.

Now I’m not going to sit and debate about climate change or the cause (I’m not a weather professional) but I’m pretty hardcore data has shown tornado alley has shifted towards my area in the last 10-20 years.

When I was a kid in the 50s and 60s we did the same.

We have so much more data and information now, and it’s all at our fingertips whenever we want it. With the advances in weather modeling and technology, there are longer range forecasts. I don’t think the weather is worse or that there is more of it, we just have much greater awareness about what’s going on with the weather all across the country and we have much more weather information to consume.

This setup could have high end potential

It’s not trending in a friendly direction

No need for actual weather commentary at this moment, we're in whiny bitch mode for now.

Reed Timmer depends on clicks to make a living. Drama and fear drive engagement.

It isn’t as nefarious as you want to make it.

The latest operational GFS model shows a surface low dipping down to 970 mb across the central Plains, with tornado outbreak potential from Louisiana/Wasr Texas to Illinois/Iowa/Wisconsin. A blizzard is likely on the cold side

What is Wasr Texas? Is is an acronym for west/along Sabine River?
