Right on top of Temple now. Definitely going to be some really strong winds there, even if there isn’t a tornado.

I live in Temple but am in West Texas visiting family. Apparently there was one touch down in north Temple where I live but I haven’t confirmed.

Left the dogs there and neighbors aren’t replying much. Trying not to fear for the worst.

One neighbor finally replied. Said it was bad and they’re about to walk the neighborhood.

Infrared (IR) Imagery - reading cloud tops. But what is more impressive is how the high clouds are diverging.

Heavy hail twice today. Was not a good day to pick up our new car.

I live in Temple off of west Adams by the church and bold Republic brewery. I'm feeling very lucky, as a tornado touched down not 300 yards behind my house. Buildings are destroyed in the Westfield business area where 3 West and all are. The clinic my fiancee works at is destroyed.

That's one thing I don't desire to see. There is video and audio of Tim Samaras, his son, and his chase partner when the El Reno 2013 tornado killed them. It, hopefully, will never be released. Fortunately, the family had the opportunity to decide not to release it.

Don't feel bad for them in the least. Especially taking a kid with him. Stupidity.

I don't think that warning ever carried a confirmed tag. It was messy, and was one of those CC deals where it could have been debris or noise.

Damn that video is taken a street over from me and shows the tornado passing behind my house. I can't believe how lucky I am now. Hearing about more houses leveled as well in a neighborhood over.

Just now updating. Sounds pretty bad back home.

A neighbor went over and found our fence down and deck ripped up. Fortunately they got my dogs back in and closed off the dog door.

Headed home and left the family in West Texas.

Stopped in Comanche and saw Oncor (energy delivery) trucks and asked where they were headed. They said they think that it’s really bad and lines are down everywhere.

Back on the road. Going to be a tough couple of days.

FWIW as well, they were supposed to be in a safe place for the tornado and it made an unconventional turn at them. the track of the El Reno tornado was just one of the oddest paths possible.

by all indications they did not do anything incorrectly, and was some of the most seasoned professional chasers at the time and did some really great work.

what happened was a prime example of Mother Nature's unpredictability, not someone doing something stupid for no reason other to do it.

man some of you are just perpetually Miserable SOB's.

ETA the track - not only was the track odd, but the speed was all over the fricking place too.

adding another track image that shows where Tim was in relation to the tornado track. they were likely in a good place, and the tornado went back at them with no real warning or time to move.
