935 AM CDT Sat May 4 2019

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Central Ascension Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
Northwestern St. James Parish in southeastern Louisiana...
South central Livingston Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* Until 945 AM CDT.

* At 935 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Sorrento, or 7 miles southeast of Gonzales, moving
northeast at 50 mph.


HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
Whitehall around 945 AM CDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile
home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and
protect yourself from flying debris.

The sky got very dark, low, and was twisting pretty good but nothing touched down from what I could see. It did have a very tornadic look, though.

The tornado warnings always seem to be for Sorrento. I’ve lived in Ascension for a decade, and I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who lives in Sorrento.

tornado was located 7 miles south of Ponchatoula, or 12 miles south
of Hammond, moving northeast at 35 mph.

Looks like worst of what they issued the warning for passed SE of the populated areas.
