Tmrw around 6am, Louisiana from Vermilion up to Rapides CAPE is about 1000, progressing to 1800 12hrs later with that trend moving ENE through LA. Miss and up towards Tenn. Significant but not record setting. Going to see some big thunderstorms, maybe some hail, tornado watches/warnings.

I'm not saying the weather won't be shite, but their whole Tor Con thing is about fear mongering. Watching the WC today, I'm surprise they haven't started talking about a possible number on casualties.

TBH, as a weather nerd I was caught completely flat footed by this threat. It is horribly humid and warm in the Gulf states but I don't see a front coming in. What is the catalyst?

I'm terribly confused.

I agree.. the Weather Channel is awful at predicting the worst case....In their eyes they are doing the public a favor, but instead they cause more panic then needed.......

There is a system coming through Texas and LA.. High pressure east of it is slowing it down and bringing in very warm Gulf moisture and meeting the front causing heavy rain at times with a chance of damaging winds, possible Hail and tornados..........Wed will be the worst day as the front basically just sits there and takes in warm gulf moisture....

Nothing like spending Christmas in the airport due to a weather delay.

The local weather blog I follow here in Nashville usually says "Don't worry about it. The tv weather guy doesn't know what he is talking about," but their post today basically said "eh, you might want to have a plan for tomorrow because it could be not so good out there." I take that as a serious forecast from them. I remember sitting in my basement on Christmas Eve '88 as a F4 tornado passed a couple miles away.

I really can't say. The Storm Prediction Center has been pretty decent at predicting these things last few years. Just going to keep an eye on the radar and local weather here.

Weather.com has a video up talking about TOR.CON for Wednesday. Looks like Wednesday night will be the worst.

I assume they'd cancel the flights if it gets bad enough. I can't remember the last time an airliner crashed because of weather. Usually, it's either crazy pilots or jihad.

ETA: or Vladimir Putin, rollin out his biznass.

I don't think so... The worst of it for LA will be north of ALEX...South LA will get some heavy rain and some strong winds but I don't think tornados are in it for us.... From about 8 tonight till the morning will be pretty heavy rain..... more winds come tomorrow with scattered storms.........

For some odd reason areas south of Alexandria don't get the bad tornadoes as compared to the northern part of the state and areas north of Alexandria.
