England has been charged with two counts of sexual battery by a person in custodial authority of a victim under 18 years old. On Monday, she resigned from the school after being released from jail. She had only been working there since December last year, according to a school district spokesman. She worked as a teacher paraprofessional, also known as a teacher's aide or assistant.

Why does it always seem like with these female teacher stories the charges don't sound nearly as harsh as you'd think. Why isn't she charged with statutory rape?
