It's an interesting martial art for sure. We do it alot after class. However, I'm still of the belief a good boxer with good hands might have an edge over a good JKD guy. Even my old arse can tag our JKD guys and I am slow. Their training is based on having opponents almost strike in slow motion agianst them while a good boxer is taught to snap their jabs and punches while ducking and weaving.
A better fight would be a Floyd Mayweather type guy against Lee.

Lee Dude, easy. In a boxing match Tyson would win because it would be his rules and he has size and training advantage. In a real fight, Tyson isn't trained to kick, throw, sweep, strike with knees or elbows or most other parts of the hands, arms and legs, or how to properly execute techniques below the belt. I don't think it would be a quick fight though because Tyson has shown an ability to take a lot of punishment.

Lee could kick Tyson in his pressure points. Deadleg him, palm strike him in the adams apple

JKD isn't a martial art. Or at least Bruce Lee would be turning over in his grave if he knew it was today.
It's a philosophy: A personal approach to fighting and life that suits the individual to the fullest extent.
And wow. This thread exploded.

Not sure if you saw my earlier post, but check out "Tyson" if you haven't watched it already. I got worked up watching it.

Bruce Lee was like 115lbs. You people are on that dope.
Lee had little trouble taking down men 4 times his size. Plus Tyson is short as frick for a heavyweight boxer.

Lee is obviously extremely skilled as a fighter. I only wonder how much damage he could absorb. It's not all about how much you can dish out. Could Lee really take some bad-intentioned flush shots from a prime Tyson? I doubt it.
I believe Tyson could take more damage from Lee than Lee could take from Tyson. I also find it difficult to fathom that Lee could incapacitate Tyson without getting touched himself.

No frickin way lee would have won Haha. The hollywood hype has messed you guys' heads up. I have a lot of respect for Lee, but he just would not have been able to KO tyson. The punching force differential and weught differential makes this a no contest

I'd say lee, but is Tyson on drugs? Different ballgame
Posted on 2/14/14 at 6:15 pm to danman6336
Not gonna read 35 pages of this nonsense. May have already been said but virtually all of Lee's accomplishments are legends and legends tend to grow. Especially over time. Tyson's are all documented fact and where not choreographed. Tyson wins.

There is something to be said for this. I wouldn't go so far as to say no contest, but at what point is the weight/mass/strength difference in the two opponents problematic for the smaller combatant? I think there is a threshold in which Lee's superior skills wouldn't be able to cover the gap, and size/physics, whatever you want to call it, takes over.
I've read where people say that Lee took down some much larger bouncers, but I have to believe he'd have a much more difficult time taking down a much larger, stronger, skilled pugilist. Tyson fought for a living. He learned to take hits. Someone that doesn't fight for a living (Lee) wouldn't take hits as well. That's common sense. That plus the size difference and I'd have to go with Tyson. Only way Lee could win is if he could completely avoid being hit, and I can't believe that he could do that.

Lee could do a good job keeping Tyson back with his legs. I agree that if Tyson lands a good punch the tide could turn very quickly.

If Lee was so badass, then why did he die? According to yall, he knows every pressure point and nerve location in the human body. I guess they don't have one that stops brain swelling.....

Tyson, but I bet even he'd feel weird beating up a corpse.

That's what I keep saying to every other post here. I feel like I'm reading a Chuck Norris joke thread or something.

I watched a couple of episodes of "Being Mike Tyson" - I'm happy he's got to a somewhat sane place in his life. His story could have ended tragically a long time ago.
And he's only 47.
