I was at a little league game last night and it was the first time that I heard the National Anthem since I joined the military. I thought it was kind of pretentious to salute during a recording of the Star Spangled Banner at a little league game.

Do you guys salute when out of uniform?

did you pay attention at all during basic

No...I'm questioning because I want to know as much as I can...not because I want to flaunt that I'm in military.

I see a lot of time spent in the front lean and rest position for you.

Damn right I do warfighter! I also preemptively call the group I'm standing in to attention and fire off a crisp "present, arms" just in case there are other soldiers in the crowd who lack the initiative to swing that knife hand up and show the civilians what a war hero looks like.

Yeah I can understand how taking your hat off would be a very hard task to do. I mean, it's not like you are looking around thinking "look at me, I'm the douche with my hat still on while the national anthem is playing, because I'm edgy"

Unless I was hungover... then I would hide.

We used to mess with 2LT's when I was in AIT. We'd be walking in a group of 5-6, see a 2LT coming and spread out just far enough that he would have to drop his salute and re salute every one of us. It got to the point where they'd see us coming and try and walk across the street before we made it to them.

As far as saluting out of uniform, I never did it. But I still habitually stand at attention during the Anthem. I retired 3 years ago.

shite when 5pm rolls around everyone just stays inside

I remember that big bitch about nothing when the Army chick posted a picture of her in her car during the national anthem.

All the people who are not in or ever served bitching about it calling her un american , yet people who have been in just laughed it off and said we been there. Don't be an idiot and post it on social media.
