Not going to even bother reading the other comments - no. Just hell no. No. No. No. You need another doctor. Seroquel for sleep??? No. No. No.

Man that sucks. Have you done a sleep study? Might want to do that before hitting up the drugs.

My wife is a type-A bi-polar. She was prescribed Seroquel for her condition. It works great for her. Without it she can't turn her mind off from running 90mph and cannot sleep. With it she sleeps like a baby.

No other issues. No other meds being taken

This is what I needed to know. Not taking it. I dont want anything that changes how I feel in the morning.

Yeah wish I could take that being otc but I'm allergic

It would put me into a coma. I'd sleep great, but wake with a headache. It's also associated with some pretty serious side effects, most notably weight gain.
My current sleep regimen:
1mg xanax
5mg melatonin
50mg generic unisom

Ask your doctor about Trazodone or Ativan if necessary. I take 1 of each every night and sleep like a baby. No hangover feeling either.

I'll probably get blasted, but if no other issues are involved try acupuncture and NLP.

My mom had to take it for a while. It was very, very bad and led to a shite ton of problems for her, some pretty serious.
the only thing I have to go on is that, but based on that I would highly recommend trying something else.

I would certainly focus on sleep hygiene first. No electronics within an hour of bed, dim lights, soft music if necessary, plenty of bright light during the day, etc.
It amazes me how some people bombard their brain with stimulation and blue light, deny their body the natural stimuli for sleep, and are then surprised they can't sleep and immediately resort to meds.
Not saying this is your case, of course.

the doctor gave him an antipsychotic drug, why would he want to smoke a psychotic one?

Melatonin works for my daughter

You deserve everything you get taking medical advice from the OT.

This may be a total shock to you, but not every grown up adult has weed readily available. I mean, if you're a 40-somethign year old that hasn't smoked since college, do you think they're just going to walk to the nearest ghetto and start asking around?

You know what Seroquel is? Doxepin repackaged in smaller doses so the manufacturer can skirt generic drug laws and sell Seroquel as virtually a new drug--not subject to generic laws.
Can you say "Ca-ching"?
The 6-mg Seroquel did shite for me, so I now take 10mg Doxepin at night--sleep well AND save a ton of money.
If your doc won't go this route, I'd only take Seroquel if it proved EXTREMELY effective for your sleep. Or maybe get 10mg tabs of Doxepin and split 'em, taking 5mg per night.
Otherwise, look for something else that's less $$ than "Seroquel."
