Seriously, if you are from Louisiana but didn't go to LSU, why not?

You're on an LSU board, so obviously you like LSU. So if you chose to go to a directional school, why? It's not like LSU is that much more expensive or harder to get into.

And I'm not really talking to people who went out of state or didn't go to college (welders be makin money). I'm talking to people who had the option but decided against the flagship.

Oxford is a much better college town

LSU would have been like reliving high school, pretty much everyone I knew stayed in BR

At 18 I wanted to gtfo of Baton Rouge and went to ULL. I ended up transferring to LSU a couple years later.

Southeastern was way cheaper, until they brought the football team back. Only had 1 year with the increased fees and shite for the football team though. Also, it was close to where I had drill.

My parents would not let me go to LSU because it was a "Party school". Damn near killed me.

Who says you're not a failure?

I know more people from Lafayette who went to school out of state than went to LSU. That city just has an absolute hatred of LSU for some reason.

Wrong

Louisiana Tech is not a directional school.

True. But I failed my underage drinking final so my application was denied.

Flagships are always based on location, not quality.

I have nothing against LSU the university. But LSU fans and alumni tend to overinflate the value of a degree and season tickets from Louisiana State University and A&M College.

1. Wanted to get the hell out of BR.

2. $$$$$ offered to me.

3. You don’t “have” to go to LSU because it’s LSU.

I go to LSU because I got TOPs. My father is well off, so money wasn't really an issue for my education. But if we're going to be honest: Baton Rouge and Louisiana as a whole is an absolute shithole. I'm thankful of the fact I had the opportunity to go to undergraduate school at small cost. There are many reasons to stay in Louisiana: the hunting, outdoors, and food.

There are many reasons not to stay here: a C word that ends in "ulcha" is a really big one.

Employment opportunities, unless you're a professional, are sad to put it lightly.
Some kids, who have parents that can afford out of state schools, have the opportunity to take this step early. And while I would never want my parents paying $40,000 a year for an undergraduate education, I don't blame parents and kids who want to get out of this shithole of a state ASAP.
