Just curios , and hoping you give an honest answer , what is a cop suppose to do if he detains someone to investagate a call and that person refuses to stay

They should use their best judgment.

That judgment should be informed by selection, training, and an understanding that if they use excessive force they will face consequences.

We can't invest people with the power to detain us and then insulate them from the consequences of poor judgment.

Well, we shouldn't do that at least.

By no means does that justify the cops response but you've got to know your audience. Don't talk sh@t to a cop. Just doesn't end well. Don't be an idiot.

When are we going to decide that this isn't a good enough answer? Respecting a cop because he can ruin your life shouldn't be the status quo.

Did we watch the same video. She looked like she was throwing a fit before he even approached her.

Audio would help

Exactly.

When the alternative to excessive force is that the "perp" - guilty of riding a bike in a parking lot - gets away, then perhaps they should err on the side of caution with their force.

You're not apprehending a violent criminal, so treat the situation appropriately. If you can't handle the situation because the suspect has an attitude and/or is black, then you shouldn't be on the streets.

Some posters on here act like they wouldn't comply...all the ones that use the term bootlicker for example

And they'll show them! Unreal. They'd prefer to spend the night in jail and pay a bunch of fines to "stand up for their rights." These guys are fools and their desire to right the system is well misplaced.

Just so I'm clear on your thinking here, anytime a cop sees a kid riding their bicycle in a parking lot of a mall, the cop can stop them and then do to them what this cop did to this girl? In your opinion, what happened in that video was nothing more than a cop doing his job and there are no issues with any of his action. Is that what you believe?

The system is broken. It needs to be fixed.

You confuse responding casually with respect. Outsmarting someone is not respecting them.

All the girl did was put her foot on the pedal. For all we can see in that video she may have been doing nothing more than shifting from one leg to the other. It certainly didn't warrant the cop losing his mind in the manner he did in the video.

Not really. When was the last time someone posted about the cop saving someone's life which is more common than this nonsense. You just choose to focus on the negative.

I would certainly comply with reasonable demands from LEOs. Even some unreasonable ones. I would have to be in fear for my life or safety of loved ones to not comply.

That doesn't mean we should excuse police officers who overreact when someone doesnt comply.

I think my question is pretty clear, simple, and easy to understand. I'd like for you to answer because I'm really wanting to understand your thinking here.

Two cops in separate cars pull up on girl to question suspect.
Suspect appears to make move to flee.
No audio so NO ONE knows what is actually going on.
Suspect resists
Friend of suspect almost interferes with police action

FACTS ARE STUBBORN THINGS

Nothing to see here....normal thug life.
