You don't have to get along with everyone. I hate most people I've ever worked with.

As a former boss, I would say it depends on that person.

Chit chat wouldn't work with me. Work talk would and doing your job well would. Don't offer to do extra work but willing to accept extra went far with me.

Conversation for conversations sake just wasnt my thing at work but it was a job where we talked for a living.

Be you. Be real. Make an effort but don't brown nose. All of this is a fine line. Don't be fake is the best I can offer but be discrete as well.

Bunch of sarcastic responses is what you’ll get in this thread. I did the job hopping thing for a while once I got out of the military. I was chasing money, a year here, 8 months there, a year somewhere else. Was making incredible money with an incredible drinking problem because I hated sales.

Finally applied to a job I actually wanted to do with about 1/3rd of the pay. I’m happier in my career but still think I make shite money. Been there 2 years now.

Sounds like you got pumped and dumped by your boss. Don't shite where you eat next time.

I've interviewed people like that. So you've had 7 jobs in 5 years? I'm sure this one will be different though

you aren't the type of person your boss would normally hang around outside of work, chit chat isn't going to be endearing. If you are, then you likely wouldn't be having these issues. That being said, the other way to have a good relationship with the boss is to be an excellent producer. Effect the bottom line positively and you will remain in the good graces of your boss.

This is probably the best answer in the thread.

A boss doesn't want to be your friend just for the sake of being friends. If you're good at your job and don't cause conflict within your workplace, your boss should absolutely love you regardless of your seeming lack of rapport.

If you can’t keep a relationship up with a boss over multiple jobs, you have personal issues

it might sound stupid, but one thing I want to do is say "bye" to my boss everyday with a little quick chit chat or something...I dunno.

Your boss doesn't care about your small talk.

Walking out and saying "bye" while your boss is still working everyday is a terrible plan.

If you are trying to move up or make a good impression you shouldn't be leaving before your boss everyday.

Beat your boss to work or stay after they leave... Or both. Every day. They will notice.

Don’t get married baw.

Look the honeymoon ends and then there are up and downs. When you just start a job both you and your new boss tend to emotionally overcompensate. As it becomes routine you become more distant.

Just do your fricking job. Build relationships and talk to people. Just know that it’s a routine so it’s not all warm and fuzzy all the time....unless you banging her.
