Why would you become a Clemson fan when you already a Badger fan? I've lived in a major college football town for almost 30 years now and never once cheered for them. In fact I root against them.
It happens. I'm moving to Louisville in a couple weeks and while I'm not going to be a UL fan I will root for the home team against everyone else and will plan to be at the ND game next year.
It's a different perspective.. You automatically get invested due to sheer proximity and plus you get to mingle while still talking shite to them

Charleston seems like one of those places that if it wasn't on the coast it would get boring pretty fast.
But it is, soooooo?
Every mountain town would get boring fast if they were in Kansas and not in the mountains

Can you bring that black guy in chicago who posts here with you? I worry about that guy.
Hoops? Why would you worry about him? I don’t know him personally but he seems to be very successful and a good dude. Plus he’s a badger.

It’s great, but I’m a born and raised Charlestonian.
Perfect location for the bars and restaurants. Also close walking distance to CofC. I’m heading that way in a few hours to watch our nationally ranked #23 in the nation CofC Cougars dominate the Delaware Bluehens.
I’m also still hammered from last night. That will be a common occurrence for you as well living downtown.

Not sure if you saw but I’m going to adopt C of C as my second team for hoops. I like that they have an arena downtown, and I grew up going to UW-Green Bay games up through when Tony Bennett played there and they were making the tournament. Those mid majors when they have awesome years are fun. And the conference tourneys in one bid leagues are a blast.

You sound like a funko pop enthusiast
You work from home instead of a man job
You live with gf before marriage
You live in an apartment instead of a trailer or a house
You live in trendy places instead of Louisiana
What’s your favorite bug to eat? How many mpg does your hybrid get?
ETA: you like basketball oof

There’s a good amount to walk to from between Meeting and King up near Elan if you had chosen that spot. You’re right next to Upper King. You can also walk to Leon’s, Melfis, etc. Gotta get the breakfast burrito from The Daily by the way.

Congrats on the move, Charleston and the surrounding area is great.
That said, I’ve lived here my entire life (61 yo), and have seen the massive changes that have gone on over the years. You just have to adjust to things like traffic jams.
Lots of great restaurants, some very expensive, some not. Quite honestly my favorite seafood place is Bowens Island. It’s a dump, food served on paper plates, most of the associated buildings have caught fire and been rebuilt over the years, but views and food are great.
If you’re an outdoorsman, you’ll love it. Saltwater fishing, whether you’re on a pier, beach, inshore, or offshore. Great freshwater fishing, Santee Cooper is close. Deer season runs August 15-Jan 1. Lots of hogs to shoot in Francis Marion National Forest. Black water rivers like the Edisto to kayak.
No huge venues for concerts, shows, etc, but North Charleston Coliseum still brings in talent. Minor League baseball at the Joe, Battery pro soccer, Stingrays hockey, festivals like Spoleto and Southeastern Wildlife, Charleston Food and Wine, farmers market downtown, beaches, lots of things to do.
Nix going to Clemson games, USC is the place to be.

Congratulations on the upgrade. One day I’ll move out of the shite hole of New Orleans and upgrade. It’s tough with kids.

Were you not to long ago pounding out loads in random Hinge Sloots every other weekend? No you moving 1000 miles away with a girlfriend?

Thanks for the detailed post. I love the sound of all of that and was actually just researching the cost of used boats and slip rentals. It seems like the tennis stadium on the northern end of the peninsula gets some pretty big acts in. We’re already planning to attend Kenny Chesney there in May.

She was the first one I met in person, the others were all zoom dates because it was covid. Missed my chance to sow some midlife oats but we’re ending in a good spot.

One of the guys in our CofC basketball season ticket package is a Wisconsin alum and huge fan. I try and watch every Badgers football game I can with him at Charleston Beer Works. It’s a stones throw from Elan Midtown. See you there next season!

Plenty of good boat clubs around the city (just don’t join freedom boat club).

Hell yeah! Love it. We actually applied for a place at The Caroline, but that’s not far from all the things.
Cubs are gonna suck again this year so maybe our River Dogs can bring some baseball glory. Pregame party at my place.

I never even thought about that. Was just looking at carefree boat club and it seems perfect, especially being able to choose a boat type based on what you want to do that day. What are we talking in terms of monthly fees, roughly speaking?
