You'll want to be out there, in all that water. Making water friends. Getting invited to fish fry's and bbq's and oyster roasts and whatnot.

That's the dream baw

We have a couple acquaintences down there we can check in with to maybe start a friend group, and then will hopefully make other friends through the apt building, Packer/Badger bar game watches, fishing from the pier, etc

The fact that there's the Ashley River and a pier I can fish from right across from the Caroline is certainly a check in favor of that building. A friday with a cooler of beers and some live bait out there sounds perfect.

Thanks. On the heat and humidity, I think those days/months are no different than Jan/Feb in Chicago. You're outside as little as possible, but in Charleston even with the heat I can hit the pool in the evening.

Chicago to Charleston? That's one heck of an upgrade.

Thanks fellas. We’re pretty excited. Chicago was so much fun in my twenties and thirties but ready for a new lifestyle and escaping the continued negative trajectory of this city and state.

And poster bruco, who escaped Chicago to Charlotte years ago and who loves Charleston more than me, is pretty damn excited about these developments

Just remember, it's not the heat, it's the humidity.

It can’t possibly be worse humidity than La or Florida…could it

Good for you for making the move for a better life. I applaud that. Also need to make a Charleston trip soon. Hear nothing but good things about it.

Damn... I'm not so sure. I lived in NELA and then Baton Rouge. The absolute sickest heat/humidity I ever experienced was in downtown Charleston on a trip in June. Incredibly brutal. Made it back out to where I was staying on Isle of Palms and it was significantly better

Wait until you find out alcohol is illegal on state property in SC.

Bring your yeti tumblers and watch your six.

And also get familiar with Morgan Wallen, Zac Brown, Widespread Panic, and the black dude from Hootie and the Blowfish. Darius Rucker I recall.

ETA- in SC, you don't say baw, you say bo.

Sounds like you've budgeted your money well to have such options and living the American dream. You experienced Chicago and that's well enough. It like all metros are out of control, especially New York, DC, Baltimore, Chicago, and New Orleans.

If you wanna hang out with the cool kids, definitely get familiar with widespread panic haha.

One of those things is nothing like the others
