Argosy harbor cruise is a good, quick option for a new vistor. I think they have some more elaborate ones around the Sound, too.

Agree with the poster on Snoqualmie Falls as a decent stop with a few other side trips.

JBeam mentioned Salty's on Alki Beach. Their brunch is pretty insane.

spend a day on Whidbey Island (ride a bike, kayak, shop, enjoy the "beaches", etc)

go to Olympia National Park

drive to the Pacific coast and hike to La Push beach #2

eat at Sitka & Spruce and the Walrus and the Carpenter

drink at the Yard Cafe

I did a day trip once....went by Hendrix grave, headed up to Snoqualmie Falls, then went to Columbia Winery, Chateau St Michelle winery, and then to Red Hook Brewery.

When I went I did an underground tour of the city. It was kind of cool

I spent a few days there about 10 years ago.

You can go to the graves of Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee's was cool, people left coins because they're considered to be good luck in Chinese culture. Hendrix's sucked because wanna-be hippies left empty beer cans and garbage.
You can go to the Experience Music Project. That was pretty cool. Think there's a sci-fi museum there too.
You have to go to the first Starbucks. Everyone who goes to Seattle stops there. It's right by the Pike Place Market, where you will probably end up anyway.

Top of the Columbia Tower (tallest building). Best views, cheap, and not crowded like the Needle

As far as food goes:

The Walrus and the Carpenter- PNW Seafood restaurant
Le Pichet-French bistro
Salty's on Alki-Upscale bar with a great view of the city
Sitka and Spruce
The 5 Point Cafe-Classic dive bar. They have a 6am-9am happy hour
Tilikum Place Café-Great place to grab brunch
Little Uncle-Thai restaurant. One of my favorites
Shorty's-Another great dive bar

How long will you be there?

In all of the years I have been visiting Seattle [roughly 18 years] . It took the most recent time I went [Labor day weekend last year] to actually check out the 1st Starbucks.

To piggyback off this, what if you only had one day 8am-4pm

I've heard Pike Street Market is cool, anything better to hit up with just one afternoon?

If they Mariners aren't in town, they do tours of the stadium. You get to go on the field, suites, press box, visiting locker rooms...

I'd have to agree with this. You could go to Pike's Market. But I feel like you would get bogged down there
