This is how almost every single communist and/or socialist revolution ends.
The only other option is a psychotic and militant opposite fascist group, like the Nazis, rises up and brutally crushes them.
Either way 90% of the population gets subjugated and brutalized and exploited in the name of some “movement” they wanted nothing to do with in the first place

There's a lot of parallels to 1789 France in Seattle at the moment.
