I skied day 20 Monday--so far all MT/ID (local-oriented areas).

It has been really a great season snow/weather-wise--lots of sun, never too cold, and still a terrific base (78 inches right now at the top of my local spot), lots of powder days (all but 2 days had good-to-great powder, especially in trees).

This has been one of my most improved seasons in a long time too, despite skiing on a 41-year-old meniscus that has almost certainly been torn since July. I've really gained confidence this year in tighter, steeper trees. I have a hard time skiing in the open now. I love the solitude. And I'm not going to do any super sweet jumps on a bum knee.

I'm resting, icing, compressing, elevating, and heating up the old knee for the season's swan song--we bought 4-day Keystone/A-Basin passes ($189--have to buy it before Dec 6 or so) and we're headed to stay with friends in Dillon for a long Good Friday/Easter weekend. Super cheap trip with those passes, free lodging, and a Delta companion pass! (ETA: you can get a Keystone/A-Basin season pass for next season for $299 if you buy before April 10! Does have holiday restrictions--T'givng, Xmas, NY, MLK Sat, and 2/18-19 whatever that is.)

That 4-day pass is perfect--only $47/day--the 4 of 6 day Keystone/Abasin tix are $520 now, and a ticket--ONE TICKET--at the Vail window is an absurd $175.

For reference, my season pass at one MT place was $289, and I bought a bunch of early-season lift tix for another for $37 each + hit some specials in the $20-25/day range. I get full-days at half-day rates everywhere in MT too. And literally have not stood in a single lift line or been anywhere near another skier on a run. No exaggeration.

My body doesn't like the high CO altitude, but I am in much better shape and have a better diet than the last time I skied there, so I'm not concerned.

Knee/wife-permitting, next season is going to be 40+ days.

I love open bowls, but tree skiing is my real true love. Always can find pockets of pow if you look in tight trees.

ABasin was off the rails today. So deep. Wind blown powder was real deep. Hit any cliff, any boulder you wanted and just have perfect powder face shot landing.

Just an unbelievable storm with more coming tonight. I'm having to fly home though for a wedding.

Pali on a deep day can't be beat. Ski'd with a coworker that has lived in Crested Butte and Steamboat for 10 years. So he was fun to rip with. He was a little taken a back that a kid from Tennessee could send it off cliffs like I do.

Breck got another 11" last night. This storm is unreal. Can't even imagine the conditions today.

Nice. Yeah I hope this moisture keeps up. I doubt I'll be sending it off any cliffs this trip with this knee but I may just say screw it since I have to have surgery anyway! (I'm kidding, insurance co.)

My twin is moving to Bozeman this summer I believe. And sticking around for next winter. So I'll be making a Montana trip for sure.

Let me park my RV out there when you do

It was a great week in Colorado. I rode Vail Wednesday, Loveland Friday, and A-Basin yesterday. Wednesday and Friday were amazing. The snow wasn't great yesterday, but it was a damn good time. Looks like more storms coming this week, with Wednesday and Thursday shaping up to be big pow days

Having skiing withdrawals after a weekend back in Bama for a wedding. But like you said this week looks nice. I have Wednesday off and then Saturday is last day at the ski shop. Gonna try and head down to Crested Butte next week and use up my 3 days on my RMSP+.

Can't believe it's almost time for pond skim and closing day at some resorts. I'll be up at the Boat on the 10th to party and listen to Leftover Salmon.

The awful awful burger at the nugget downtown is a great hangover remedy!

Headed to Vail saturday. Looking forward to it. Never been there. Skied Tahoe area a bunch and NM so this will be a good experience.

Just found out I'm going to Canada New Years to snowboard. I'm so stoked!

I know this is a long shot but remember seeing a ski thread a long time ago and a guy gave a website that had a bunch of tight gear for really cheap. I think it was previous years stuff discounted. Thought I bookmarked it but apparently not. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm not sure the thread your talking about but definitely checked steep and cheap. They have new deals every 10-15 min and the have a gear cache

Haven't made it up to the Boat full time yet. So I'm down in Summit. Bout to go make some laps at Breck before work. Not sure where tomorrow before work.

Wednesday I have off so I'm going to Vail or the Beave unless snow tells me to go elsewhere.

I think my plan is Steamboat Wednesday, Vail Thursday, Beaver Creek Friday, A-Basin Saturday, and backcountry around Berthoud Pass Sunday

We could potentially see up to 2 feet of snow from Tuesday to Friday
