I'm looking for a fabricator in the New Orleans or Northshore areas who has some priced $35 per sq ft or below with installation included. I found one guy in Covington, but looking for others to see what additional color options are available. About 60-70 sq ft is needed. Any suggestions?

EJ Fielding funeral home sells granite on the Northshore. I don't know their prices, but thought it was mildly humorous they are expanding their business.

It makes sense though.

How big of a section you need? If it’s only a few small sections you can pick out remnant pieces for significantly cheaper prices.

It's a sizable outdoor kitchen area. Probably around 60-70 sq ft is needed.

DL Cabinetry on Chef. They sell it by the slab. Around 300 (plus or minus) for a 9-ft section. You just have to get someone to pick it up and install it... they provide you a list of references. We're getting a slab from here for our master bath remodel.

ETA they have both 2 and 3cm

All of north lion scrap stuff is $35/ft, but not sure if they would have enough of any one material for a full kitchen. Have to go to Nola to look at what they got but can order in Covington

I just called them and their slabs are only about 9' x 2', which sucks because I have a platform designed to house my Big Green Egg that's 28" deep. Actually, the depth of all my cabinets are 28" deep which doesn't take into account the overhang that will be needed for the counters as well.

Have you received any estimates for this on your project? Just wondering just how much are the various pieces when it's subcontract out like this.

Check out S&S granite in tickfaw. Really reasonably priced granite and install. I just used them for my house.

This. Go to your local places and ask to see the remnants. They like getting rid of those for cheap

I understand you are looking for 3cm, but for an outdoor kitchen do you think anyone will truly notice if you have 2cm?

Also, have you looked into quartz? We had quartz counters in my old house and unfortunately have granite in new house. Id take quartz again in a heartbeat.

From my research it's not good to have 2 cm granite outdoors because of how the edging is fabricated. Plus, my wife likes the thickness of the 3 cm granite.

To my knowledge, quartz isn't recommended for outdoor use.

No but someone that referred me to them had two slabs picked up and installed by someone for around $500 I believe. Both had two undermount sink cutouts and side/back splashes.

Quartz is non-porous and does not require any sealing (ever) so it offers a virtually no-maintenance material solution for countertops. Its also very durable and is stain-resistant as well so dropping a glass of wine on them simply requires a quick cleanup. That was our biggest plus when it came to quartz. With kids there are alot of spills and you just wipe it and go on. We also would put hot pots and plates on the counters and never a problem.def cant do that with granite. With the granite, we are paranoid about making sure the granite is perfectly sealed. You'll also notice a big difference in price too.

We actually used Lowes in Covington. It was a great price and look. Happy to send pics if you share your email.

We have granite in our home and used a place out of Poplarville but was surprised when a contractor recommended Lowes for the outdoor kitchen. 18 months later still very happy with it.

Good luck with your project!
