Sam Adams says its Boston Taproom ran out of Samuel Adams Boston Lager over the weekend because Scottish soccer fans drank them dry. From Thursday to Sunday, it said the Tartan Army drank four times as much Boston Lager as it normally sells during a typical four-day holiday stretch like the Fourth of July.

The company had to schedule an emergency delivery on Saturday morning just to keep up.

"We've never seen anything like it," said Billy DeCain of the Sam Adams Boston Taproom.

And they aren't the only ones running dry.

"The White Bull Tavern, there was no beer," Scottish fan Dave Orr said. "The Scottish fans just drank the place dry and all they had was Bud Light."

"Pretty much everything. We ran out of everything," Paul Morris of The White Bull Tavern added. "Tennent's being number one."

"The fans have been unbelievable. They're great -- fun, drinking, partying -- having a great time."

Hennessy’s Bar in downtown Boston told The Boston Globe that it tripled its St. Patrick's Day sales and sold out of beer altogether on Sunday night.

It's impressive that they are doing it in such a big city. However, it's probably like 10-15 total bars in the city that just so happened to have 85% of the Scottish fans drinking at them

It reminds me of Beerfest when the Americans have no history of drinking compared to other countries

I'll just say this. Watching foreign world cup fans enjoy America and bringing their traditions here has been WAY more entertaining than the actual soccer games...

ETA: My BIL is Scottish. I can confirm they can pound them back.

The Scottish fans are awesome. The English fans are a bunch of jackasses.

I know there are at least a hundred bars in Boston and have drank at probably a dozen of them in my multiple trips. I'm not an expert but know there are plenty of bars

Eh

Just payback from back in the day, when me and an AF buddy emptied The Loch Ness Inn of all it’s cider on one long New Years evening.

Good times

FYI
Did you know that the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” started during Hogmanay? (The Scottish celebration of New years

I've helped do some significant damage to the ale inventory in several Lakenheath area pubs

East Anglian Beer/cider sales dropped 57% upon my PCS out of the country, or so I heard.

I have a similar story from 97 or 98. Somehow I ended up on a 2 week trip to the UK with my friends and a 25 year old chaperone at the ripe old age of 16. So, at that time, we couldn't get into any clubs or pubs but you could legally drink in the UK at 16 if you were "at home". If you were a registered guest at a hotel, that was your home. So, as teenage boys do, we got shite housed every night in the hotel bar.

One night, we were staying at a hotel in Scotland and the national Rugby team was there. We drank the place dry and did Karaoke until dawn. The Scots really love Tom Petty. Towards the end, all the had was something called "Hooch" in a green bottle. Tasted like alcoholic Sprite.

Honestly, they need to enjoy the world cup, then carry their arse back across the pond and start fixing the mess on their island.

Can we please trade some of these lads and their families for some of our other immigrants. Hell, I'd be willing to pay a temporary extra tax to the UK to help fund it.

Scotland is nothing like England. They may be under UK law, but the culture is quite different.

I tried to go to the Sam Adams Taproom one time, but it was the shittiest parking situation imaginable and we finally gave up.
