Why would you drop off special needs kids in a cross walk area instead of the front of the school? Just wondering

In the front of school, we have buses, parents, etc. It is a lot of commotion. Commotion for SPED kids is bad m'kay.
In the back of school, there is far less traffic. The particular door that we use goes into the gym lobby which is adjacent to the cafeteria. All of those places are closer to my classroom than the front doors of school as well.

And I guess we should raise the speed limit on college campuses while we are at it. Those kids are all in college. They should be able to avoid the cars.

Why does there need to be a school zone speed limit for high schools? These people are 14 to 18 and are quite capable of knowing when to cross the street.

You're forgetting a couple of things:

1) A much higher proportion of drivers who just got their license.
2) A fair number of adult pedestrians get hit by cars too. And there are generally more pedestrians around anyway.

Making people go 20 mph thru an area with lots of people vs. 40 mph will not waste any appreciable time. Slow the Frick down.
