I got here late and didn't read the entire thread, but with this girl disrupting the class, what was the solution in this case? She obviously planned to be completely disruptive and refused to leave the room. Are you supposed to baby her? Or just let her st there and disrupt the rest of the class?
She was being quiet and on her phone. How about you just keep teaching the lecture? She was a minor disruption turned into a major disruption because of a teacher and a school officers ego. Nothing more.
If I go into a class and fall asleep in the back row.. and the teacher asks me to move because I don't belong there.. but I'm tired and I'm an a-hole.. so I just lay there until the teacher gets an officer to flip me out of my desk and drag me out of the classroom by my ankles..
Who was the bigger disruption? I think we all know the answer.

She won't see it, Festus .. She's been "lecturing" adults on here since she's been 17 .. Basically a little brat

So explain to me what the point of the SRO is, sir.
is it to scare students? to beat or threaten them?
Honestly, they are used in these situations because teachers are justly afraid of any physical interaction with students. It's not worth it to the teacher to even grab a student by the arm to take them out of the classroom. Next thing you know you have mom calling school because their kid came home and told mom that the teacher hit her. SROs are in a much better position to deal with these situations than teachers or even administrators.

If 99% of your interactions with a certain group are bad maybe it's not the group of people that is the problem...maybe it's you. You come off as being pretty damn disrespectful in this thread...old people can see right through you.

Yet you sit here and paint all (or 99%) of people over 50 as being rude.
Are y'all seriously this dense?

Just take a deep breath and let it go.

And he didn't do his job well.. obviously. Or he wouldn't have been fired. He abused the poor girl because she refused to get out of a chair.

Are you painting an entire group of people with a broad brush, based on your interaction with very few compared to the population?
Do you admit that you despise when it's done against women, and regularly blast guy posters on here when they do the exact same thing?
And no, I don't feel like I'm dense. But I would like you to answer the above questions.

Actually, I am so overly nice in public that I am constantly told to grow some balls and be rude back to people. I'm the "Oh my gosh I am so sorry, excuse me" type when I have to pass someone. It is almost sickening.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not bc I haven't read all 24 pages of this thread.
The girl that the cop physically removed from her desk hit the officer before he took the action that he did.
Richland county Sheriff, Leon Lott, has fired the officer and the officer has retained an attorney.
Jesse Jackson is in Columbia but has been asked by the president of the SC chapter of the NCAAP to leave if he is here to basically stir the pot. We have not rioted after any of the incidents that have occurred here in the past year nor did anyone loot during the floods and this state would like for it to remain that way.

No. Instead, you have labeled an entire generation as rude because, as you claim and I very seriously doubt, in 99 out of every 100 interactions you have with a rude person the rude person is 50+.

So the teacher lets one kid play on the phone and does nothing about it. What do you think is going to happen the next day? More kids playing one thier phones b/c they know the teacher isn't going to do anything

I dont get that referencd because I'm Pectus.
See? I am ignorant. I am trying to teach LL that it's ok to admit ignorance.
