IMO it appears as if she was going to fight him. Watch her hand motion right before he gets physical LINK

People say "there are other ways that situation could have been handled" but it is a spur of the moment situation. As the situation started to snowball, what do people expect the resource officer to do. Jump back & think "okay, lets observe this situation & see how I can get this unwilling student to get out of her desk?"

this guy being interviewed says it hurts because he has a daughter.. but how about raise your daughter to not act up and if asked to leave the class. then leave the freaking class. why is it okay to have no respect for authority?

i would never behave like that even as a youth

What's that suppose to matter?

A brat, disobeying is still a brat.

There was a white girl student around here that got put in her place by a substitute teacher.. and everyone took up for the teacher because the girl was a complete defiant brat..

Absolutely. It's the media trying to throw race into the equation that is the problem.

I mean he's asked to remove a student who is causing problems in the classroom. The student is defiant and not budging.. What do you people want him to do. Just sit there all day and waste and everyone's time.. when will the students and possibly parents be held accountable for their actions? If they aren't going to cooperate, then force to remove is necessary..

I'm trying my best to see it from all sides.. and I truly believe if my kid was causing trouble in class I would be upset.. but if they were then asked to leave the class and did not.. I would be even further upset. Even if they felt they didn't deserve it.. they should listen to their instructions to just leave the situation.. We can deal with it later..

The student can't just sit there and hold up the entire class by their behavior.. It's absurd.. but what's most frustrating to me is anyone trying to make this a race issue. The man was doing his job and the student was non cooperative.. and now he's being investigated by the freaking FBI? I mean really..

So what do you do when your class changes and she's sitting there still refusing to move?

Deciding if its appropriate to remove her from the room is one thing.

Throwing her across the room and ragging her by her hair is quite another.

The teen being disrespectful and refusing to leave the room does not change the fact that what the cop did was flat out 100% wrong and a major overreaction.

If that is how he reacts to a punk kid smarting off I can't imagine how poorly he'd react to an actual serious situation. The guy is not fit to wear a badge.

Just weird to see a cop brought in to handle a simple classroom matter. One not equipped to deal with it, at that.

Absolutely. But something tells me this board would probably a little harsher on the cop throwing a white female 16 year old. It's no secret there are quite a bit of racists on here. I mean, we had people judging and mocking her dead parents on how they raised her before they even realized she had become a foster child shortly not too long before this incident. And others seeing no problem with it at all since the girl "wasn't hurt" before it was revealed she has neck and back injuries, carpet burns on her face, and a cast on her arm

The cop messed up and he is fired now. That is good. But the Ahmed clock crowd is all triggered about a special angel who probably got exactly what she deserved. That is bad.
