bullshite. Virtually all private schools accept some form of government funding.

Yeah, the school is still subject to Title IX, for instance, but dress codes have been allowed even in public schools.

Why would a Catholic School receive Federal funding...?

If she's at the school on a voucher it comes through the state...

What is up with all these hair stories about black students at private schools lately? You go to a private school that has hair codes. You knew this going in. Follow the rules or GTFO. It’s that simple

It's pretty shitty if they put it in as a new policy over the summer. I tend to agree with the guy on this one.

I'm curious why the school decided 2018 was the time to ban fake hair.

If that's the school's rule, then fine... I just would like to know the reasons behind the new rule.

A truly private school can get away this this. If Christ the King accepts ANY govt funding they are screwed. Lawsuit coming.

bullshite...this is from a charter school that receives public and private funding...they make their own rules...
quote:

The following dress and grooming code shall apply:
1. Hair must be styled in such a way as to remain out of the face and away from the eyes (bangs should be trimmed to eyebrow-length or above the eyebrows). The student’s face must be clean shaven. Students are prohibited from wearing hair curlers or other grooming aids or implements. Extremes in hair color and style are prohibited (no 2-toned hair or streaks, no mohawks, no shaved lines or designs).

The federal funding flows through the state to the schools

quote:

Public Trusteeship: Aid is channeled through public authorities (state and local educational agencies) who receive the ESEA funds and act as trustees on behalf of all the eligible children in their community, regardless of the type of school they attended.

So by that rational, is it still considered direct "Federal Funding" even though it's given to the state...?

and the state chooses how to divide it up...

Based on previous versions of the handbook, the school added rules as they went to address different fads. Boys and girls weren't allowed to have spiked hair, for instance. A ban on unnatural coloring was added. Etc.

If I had to guess, probably 1 of 2 reasons. Either they were having problems with some girls not paying attention in class because they were busy playing with their extensions. Or some girls started pushing the envelope on what the school was willing to allow, and it was easier to ban it completely than to try to draw a line on what was going to be allowed and what wasn't.
