That's fine, but it's a shitty policy that basically targets the black girls.

I was sent home in HS for having hair that was deemed too long. I'm white.

Not that I don’t agree with y’all, because I 100% do..

But professional extensions on white girls are outrageously expensive (I had them for a full year; they’re $700 every 8 weeks) so you don’t really see many white girls with them unless they’re clip-ins. Also, they school would have no idea if most white girls had them because they just make your hair look longer.

Fake hair is absolutely more of a black girl thing, as their natural hair looks nothing like white hair.

That said, I still agree with the whole private school rules are rules sentiment. But you can’t argue that the rule affects the white girls much at all.

So what do you think the intent is here if the Archdiocese is targeting young black girls?

It's pretty shitty if they put it in as a new policy over the summer. I tend to agree with the guy on this one.

Doubt its a new rule. I went to catholic schools and my kid is in catholic school. They've always been strict on hair styles.

But even if it was a new rule, the schools handout copies of the handbook at parent orientation and/or post it on school website. And they make both parents and students sign a form at the beginning of the school year that acknowledges we have read the handbook and understand the rules.

It does seem to be a new rule that only affects the black children.
White girls love fake extensions too.

Nice subtle brag about spending $4550/yr on fancy hair. Pics or it didn't happen.

The intent is not to have crazy, distracting hairstyles.

Similar to the intent of uniforms. Keep their minds on school and off of fashion, hair, keeping up with the Jones (or Jacksons).

Just because something disproportionately affects one group does not mean that it is discriminatory.

Perhaps that one group was disproportionately doing stupid shite. (and fake hair is stupid shite)

I could be wrong, but I thought the policy was a a diocesan thing, which would include high schools too.

That poor individual couldn't be any more delusional.

Probably went to Gretna Jr. High.

If they allowed fake hair/extensions, there'd probably be more white girls wearing them to school.

Catholic schools don't allow unnatural hair colors or highlights either. When I was a teenager, dyed hair was much more common among white kids. Didn't matter that those rules dis-proportionally affected white kids...rules were the same no matter what race.
