Scary/creepy ocean stories?

So I was reading the thread about creepy encounters in the woods and I got inspired. I’m not a hunter so I don’t really have any woods stories, but I have had some closer encounters in the ocean.
Once, I was swimming at the beach in Nassau, Bahamas. I was about 50 yards from shore, and I was looking at the sea floor, looking at shells and small fish. I look up and see a big arse barracuda, about 2 feet from by face. Just staring me down with those big eyes and toothy grin. This thing had to be 5+ feet long, and I was 14 years old so it scared the shite out of me. I freaked out and hauled arse back to the beach, which probably wasn’t the smartest thing. I’m all out of breath saying I saw the fish when this guy out in the water stands up and screams “Barracuda!”
It was a pretty creepy encounter though. They just appear seemingly out of the blue.
Another time I was kayak fishing in the gulf, in waters off of Fort Walton. I had caught a couple snapper, and I had a third fish hooked on the line when I felt a jolt and something ripped the line off. I then see three bull sharks, ranging from probably 8 to 12 feet. They start circling the kayak and I’m freaking out. One of them even bumped the kayak. So I threw what I had overboard and hoped they would leave me alone, but they followed me for a mile or two all the way to shore. It was a pretty scary situation.
I saw a Man O War in waters off of Rosemary beach in Florida. A little girl actually got stung by it later that day when it washed up I believe.
Any other seamen of the OT have fishermen’s tales? I thought it would be cool to hear your stories after a lot of people had cool forest stories.

I flounder gig using a 100watt 12 v underwater light. The ones you buy have a 30watt bulb. Needless to say it throws a lot of bright light under the water.
Three or four times I have come across large bull sharks in the shallows. Mainly at East Timbalier and Fourchon.
They will startle you and make you catch your breath.

i guess this would be slightly creepy.
We were at spring break in south padre island and me and my buddy were walking back late late and we saw two people in hazmat suits, then a small plane was in the air and dropped something green into the ocean, then a small boat rode by right were the green light landed...
yea, we bolted...drugs??

enough for a tank of gas. it was a pretty good fishing trip. he had a couple dozen big blue crabs on him so we put him back in and ran him again the next day.

As a kid (5th grade), I'd go ski at a friend's house in Hawaii. When you were up on skis, you'd often see barracuda following you. Scary looking, but they were no danger. I thought it was kind of cool.

I grew up on the coast, had some good ones last weekend for the first time in years and made me realize how much i missed having easy cheap access to them.

I was diving out of Destin in 90 ft. and I was the last one back to the boat. When I surfaced, the deckhand was looking over the side with a rifle in his hand. I asked what was going on. He said there was a 10 ft. hammerhead hanging around the boat. I think I walked on water.

It's not like..when on a horse and being chased by wolves in 1860. The idea of dropping what you have is to create distance on an even playing field. A horse can put some distance on land in between.
You're not going to out paddle sharks who now see you as a floating food source.

Not ocean, but I was on a canoeing trip with a couple of friends about 10 years ago. I forget how, I got separated from them in a really windy, fast flowing area of the river we were floating. I overcorrected with my paddle and pinned myself up against a tree and took a swim. My foot got caught in some limbs in the water and I was sort of stuck. I had somehow held on to the canoe and had a life jacket on, but as swift as the water was, it could have easily pulled me under. I couldn't free my foot while also holding on to the canoe, so I let the canoe go and fought the current to get a hand down and pull the branch trapping my foot enough to free myself. Canoe got pinned against another tree slightly down river and I was able to swim to it. Swam it to shore and walked downstream to find my friends had pulled out to wait for me. Had a pretty nice cut on my leg. Bandaged it up and finished the trip. That was thankfully the only treacherous part of the trip.

Barracuda def are scary up close. Wen't snorkeling in the keys and once a few swam right past my face I was done.
