I've seen very large sharks (estimated 10ft plus - guessing Bull sharks) circling swimmers who have no idea they are there. I observed this from a 16 story balcony in Perdido Key. Luckily the sharks eventually lost interest but holy shite I thought I was going to witness a attack for awhile there.

When you are swimming in fairly deep waters in the ocean, you really have no idea what is under you, and that is terrifying.

To be fair, I shoved a bunch of weights in the fish to try to give me some time. They weren’t going to leave me alone with or without the fish.

Forgot to add this story but one time some friends and I were on the sandbar on an overcast day. Lightning struck the ocean not too far away from us and you could feel the tingle in the water. Needless to say, we hauled arse out of the water and off the beach.

Gators don’t do shite. Just leave them alone and you’ll be fine. Crocs on the other hand are way more aggressive, same with hippos but I’ve never been anywhere with them.

One time I asked a friend of mine, who is an avid SCUBA diver, what he was more afraid of: sharks or barracudas. He said barracudas by far. He said that sharks have 3 brain cells; barracudas only have 2 and they both want to eat you.

Pulled a guy out of big lake who was thrown from his boat and it sharked him.

No skill switch.

Cut his hand about clean off.

Wear kill switch. Wear life vest. Wear something someone can grab you by to pull you in if your dead weight (ie. Belt).

He survived. They were able to reattach his hand. He had a bunch of surgeries trying to route the bloodflow right.

Biggest catch I've ever pulled in. Went about 280.

it was a pretty good fishing trip. he had a couple dozen big blue crabs on him so we put him back in and ran him again the next day.

Not creepy, but definitely scary. Was about 8 or 9 and went fishing out of Cocodrie with my dad and grandpa. We got caught in a really bad storm and had to climb up on a small unmanned rig because we thought the boat might not make it (it was a smallish bay boat). While we're standing on the rig waiting out the storm lightning struck the rig next to us causing it to explode. Was a scary 20 minutes waiting out the rest of that storm.

flounder gig

We gig out of a flat bottom boat. We were working a shoreline in sabine. My son was trying hard to see the fish and leaning over the front of the boat. We crossed about a 12 ft gator laying in 2 ft of water.. i had to grab my son to keep him from falling out when the gator hit the bottom of the boat..

What do y'all mean by gig. If y'all in a boat, how are gators or sharks a threat

he was walkin in his story. We were in the boat we use barbed gigs on a pole. Looks like a mini pitch fork . Find the fish with the lights then stick them in the head.
The big gator hit the bottom of the boat almost nocking my son overboard. We are talking about a 14 ft flat boat

I was walking using a spear 3/8”x 4’ SS round bar in knee deep water. The water was clear enough to see 8 or ten feet. To see a 6 or 7 foot bull shark swim into view is looking at them close and slow. What a sight.

A friend came up on a big alligator in that pond at the Grand Isle State Park.

This is not correct. Firsthand experience.

as a kid I was snorkeling in Florida and got stung by a fairly large Man-o-war - was not fun.

when I was in my late teens, a bunch of buddies and I were fishing at Dauphin Island just down from the pier, and we were chest deep in the water - and a buddy fishing behind us from shore, were catching sucker fish off sharks.

Diving on a wreck out of Destin. Got disoriented and surfaced facing in the opposite direction from the boat. There's no feeling quite like the feeling you've been abandoned in the ocean.

There was a guy fairly recently on Rogan who lived for a couple weeks in an underwater lab. The story he tells about using the bathroom in such an environment is absolutely terrifying.
