When I was a kid in Shreveport, Channel 3 used to have an afternoon movie where they did "Dialing for Dollars." They would frequently show old horror flicks. One day, 8 year old Slippy is home by himself after school and watches an old Boris Karloff flick, Black Sabbath. It was 3 different stories. One of those stories scared the shite out of me. I kept seeing this woman and couldn't sleep for a month. Turned me into a wimpering little girl.

The Excorist when I was about 5. My parents didn’t know I was watching it and 38 years later I still can’t watch that movie.

My dad and his friend used to gather all the young kids on the beach at night (summer Navarre trip each year). They'd circle us up and tell stories about an escapee spotted in the area. Then the buddy comes running over the dune with flashlight on his face or whatever and kids fricking scatter everywhere running for our lives..... pissed myself if I recall.

When I was about 10, we were going to cross the river via the ferry at St. Francisville. We had already boarded and had gotten out to stretch and take in the crossing from the rail when we heard quite a disturbance. We look to see what’s going on, and there is an 18 wheeler coming down the hill to board, but he’s going way too fast. Guy had lost his brakes and was out of control. Luckily for everyone involved, the driver had the wherewithal to not panic. He steered the truck, probably going about 40 mph, onto the ferry, opened the door of his truck, and jumped out onto the deck of the ferry and rolled. The truck crashed through the backside gate of the ferry and plunged into the river, where it sank pretty quickly. Scared me so badly that I don’t even remember what happened immediately after, except that no one was hurt, including the driver.

This is a weird coincidence. I grew up in Shreveport as a kid in the Seventies and I was trying to remember the name of this movie a couple of days ago. Scared the shite out of me.

For me, it was those motherfricking twins in The Shining when I was about 9 years old. Well, that and the person in the bear costume sitting on the bed with Mr. Grady.

I remember watching the Shining previews in the movie theater as a kid when the elevator doors opened and the blood started pouring out. That movie freaked me out as a kid.

When I was nine or ten, the local Jaycees sponsored a haunted house in town. So, I’m scared before I even go in, but one if the rooms we walked through, they were staging a surgery and the doctor calmly said, “I’m going to have to take the leg off.” So, he pulls out a machete and starts chopping at the leg of the patient and the patient and all the nurses in attendance start screaming. There is also a strobe light that accompanied the chopping. It was horrifying! I didn’t sleep well for a few nights and forget about going to the doctor for a few months.

Wasn't in Schriever was it? I remember as a child going to their haunted houses every year and it was legit.

There was an annual haunted house at the Louisiana State Fair every year in Shreveport called Dr. Blood's House of Horrors. It was awesome. Back when that Friday the 13th and Halloween show were so popular.

1. Age 6
Dr Jekyll and Mr hyde

I went with My lifetime friend. Also 6. Born 2 days after me.

We had walked from.home maybe 6 blocks.

I saw enough in 25 minutes. Friend tries to get me to just cover my eyes.
I'm.out of here.

2. Age 7. War zone
See plane shot down by other plane and crash into mt and explode in orange flames.
Went to bed to the sound of machine gun fire.
Classmate died in nearby town.
One bizarre thing after the next. Plane battle takes the cake for me. I and my sister were in one near death scene after another for a while there.
She fell over board at sea.
I missed it..heard about it over dinner. She was caught in.mid air by a minister on the deck below. Hearsay on that.
My mom was very defensive about it. Suggested minister made it up to guilt trip her for losing track of 3 yr old.

Zelda in the movie Pet Cemetery. I had an aunt dying of cancer at the time that looked eerily similar. Scared the crap out of me.

In real life-----seeing my dad die in front of me and my two younger sisters when he had a massive heart attack when I was 8 years old.

In movies, the shower scene in "Psycho" when seeing it for the first time. I was glad we only had an old clawfoot bathtub back then with no shower. I don't think I would have closed the curtain all the way and would have showered with one eye on the door at all times.
