You just let him go? This is what's wrong with people today. I would have told the store owner. You suck.

This could be a gold mine for the OP. Wait by the register for Mr Hands to approach. Tell him he can pay for the beer in his pants or have it removed at the hospital.

If the clerk says it is ok and to just let him go, you know that their policy is that paying for beer is only a suggestion. You are beered up for life at that point.

Yes and it was a poor decision. The man had to be twenty years my elder. Pushing 70 easily. I Had just finished up a metal roofing job and was hot as hell and ready to go home. I just didn't give a shite at the time.

the first rule of aikido is to back off and run.

Sure I know how to fight and I have defended others.

I am not going to risk life and limb to be a stand in for the security of a 7-11. People yes. beer, not so much.

I admit that I have knocked out some people that I didn't really have to.
I was pretty tense when I was younger. i didn't leave a lot to chance.
But I still go by the same principles. You big talkers haven't been in a jam vs a USMC or Army drunk.

You should have followed him to the lot and given him a shake down and took his pants-beers.

So you witnessed a crime and just ignored it? Then later you think you "probably should have said something"?

Come on man. What is wrong with you?

He's stealing from you too. The cost of theft is passed on in the price of goods.

Yeah, I'm not getting shot over some dumbass stealing beer.
I yelled at a woman for throwing her McDonalds trash in the parking lot and then having her kid to the same thing. She cussed me out and I think she wanted to run over me.

1. Old man
2. Stealing beer

Obviously this dude has issues. Take a pass on dealing with that shite. Think about the state of mind in an older person stealing fricking tallboys.

I am now with you on this. When I wanted to call him out earlier I did not know he was 70'ish. I have a soft spot for old people and children. Let the old guy have a few beers.

people saying to get into an altercation with a vagrant over some stolen beer

Mention it to the store clerk when you check out so they can handle it how they see fit.
