The solutions are societal and start 20 years before the problem.
The re-establishment of the importance of a strong family unit.
Get doctors to stop passing out opioids like candy.
Figure out whats happening to our mental health.
Take better care of our veterans.
Lemme know how that works....

So you didnt want solutions. Gotcha. You wanted to beat your chest and bitch.
You didnt solve any problems with your Big Brother ideas.
Unless you think the problem isnt "we have people addicted to drugs and suffering from mental health issues" and is just "yuck i have to see these people"

If they are on the sidewalk, I kicked or stepped on their feet as I walked by.
Lower Decatur was basically a bed. Eventually get tired of walking over and around those motherfrickers.

No I want real solutions....if the govt puts these people in rehab it would be a waste of time and money. Be real. What’s the success rate for a gutter punk going to rehab?
They aren’t veterans, so I have NO clue where you got that...but hey, it sounded good for the white knight.
They are all from out of town so our current policies along with our tourists, bring them down here. One of them probably has a trust fund and pays the rent in the Bywater while the others just squat. They have money for all forms of drugs and liquor. They supplement their addictions with tourist cash and when they are confronted they get aggressive. They abuse animals in broad daylight and cost taxpayers a metric ton of money to narcan and put back on the street.
Here’s my solution:
Get tough on them. Sidney Torres had the animal rights people walk with NOPD and round them up. They did this in 2015 but haven’t in a while for some reason. Round them up, arrest and process them slowly. So they don’t have their drugs. Make it painful.
Or
Buy them a bus ticket and give them $500 waiting for them in San Francisco
These people come from good family units for the most part....stop looking for the cause of the problem and fix it with tough policies.

Looks like you love you some gubment solutions

Make narcan expensive and stop giving it to them for free
Once a couple die from not getting free narcan they will buy some to keep on hand, stop ODing, or die themselves.
At that point it is their choice

You cant reason with his level of cognitive dissonance.
Hes a self described Conservative Christian whos solution is somehow both "frick these people" and "Get the government to round them up"
He also doesnt know what the term white knight means but he read it on the internet. He thinks i somehow care about these people and am championing them because i dont believe in putting everyone in jail lol.

He’s the type of “conservative” who would applaud if Trump rolled out a plan for universal healthcare.

So you don’t believe in law and order....gotcha

I believe in limited law and order. And freedom.
Personal liberty until it infringes on others personal liberty.
And no, you dont have the fundamental right not to encounter the dregs of society.

Well then I’ve got one simple question for you
1. Are they breaking the law?

I mean...i guess if they were doing drugs that werent prescribed to them?
But again....limited law and order. Thats what i believe in. We are well past that as a country.
Do you think we have a good criminal justice/prison system in this country?

No, the lowest form of society are the garbage who harm children and the elderly and prey on the innocent. The people you're talking about are mostly just harming themselves.
Posted on 2/9/20 at 1:54 pm to Hester Carries
I guess not. It’s just sad and I’m tired of talking about it.
Posted on 2/9/20 at 1:55 pm to The Levee
I get that they suck. But i say frick it. You go down to that you should expect drugged and drunks. Let em be. Thats why New Orleans and other similar places exist.

Incarcerating drug addicts is the most expensive and least effective way to treat the problem.
