This should be high school required viewing as part of required American History...oh wait, someone told me American History was dropped from high school required courses?

The PBS video on vietnam made me lose it.

The first few minutes are incredible.

I remember watching it at Citiplace Theater. I don’t think anyone had any idea how powerful this movie would be. It was packed, as we walked out the only sound you heard were aquite a few people crying. No one else said a word. It was the most surreal experience I ever had in that setting.

Band of Brothers, Viet Nam series and Patriot are all great too.
But as a son of a Father who was WWII Pacific fighter and nephew of a 2nd wave Normandy survivor nothing hits home for me like SPR. A case could be made given certain assumptions that none of us would be living free today had that invasion failed and Hitler being smarter would have delayed Russian invasion.
A bucket list item that meant more to me than all the fun items in that bucket was since a teenager my want to tour the beaches of Normandy and the American and ally gravesites located there. My health failed, but my oldest daughter and husband did it for me. A local at Normandy snapped a photo of them squatting on the beach with a large "Thank You" they scribed in the sand. Of the material things I've ever owned, this is the most cherished.
Thank you to my Father's generation for what has now been largely forgotten. RIP Greatest Generation.

I’d say movie/tv board, but the Star Wars nerds have cluttered it all up.

If you don’t cry or tear up during the last scene of Saving Private Ryan, you’re soulless.
