Saudi Aramco IPO

Climate constraints are only one issue facing the Saudis, Leaton said. The desire to sell is driven by the country’s need to help balance a budget that’s been ravaged by the decline in oil prices, he said.

I couldn't imagine aramco going public. They'd actually have to report their news to the public.

Just stop. The link you posted is something that's been talked about in the news ever since the Crown Prince Nayef talked about it last summer. I attended a meeting in Dammam in Nov 2014 that discussed it in depth even before he was the Crown Prince.

From the article:

quote:

“Why would you IPO your only valuable asset when oil is at its lowest point since 2003?” said Andrew Logan of Ceres, the Boston-based coalition of investors and environmentalists. “The most obvious way to read it is they are starting to see the writing on the wall -- that the age of oil is coming to an end and they are looking to cash out while they can.”

Or you figure out you should flood the market, put your competition out of business, split company shares amongst family members, conduct IPO, implement staged cuts to meet demand, as shares rise with oil prices in a market you control make back all the money you lost crushing the competition. Profit.
